England looked hungrier but are not playing smart at all...after the first 20 minutes or so they started playing kick ball, just happy to lob long balls to the forwards...they need to keep control of the ball and attack.

ABC is weak, they waited until a second before the game started to start showing it, they almost missed the opening kick-off. At least Telemundo shows the players coming out of the tunnel and the natl anthems. ABC/ESPN needs to be covering that, this is part of the pagentry and excitement of the World Cup. Man it is sad that they just don't get  God forbid morning news gets interrupted

MY FIRST HD game EVER! NOT. Freakin' ABC commentators are horrible. I'd trade off the Spanish excitement for the HD wider view. Also, ABC HD is 10 seconds behind the feed. My Media Center guide says something else is on 45, so it stopped recording... :( did anyone else have this happen on ABC or UNIVISION?
It's UNIVISION, not TELEMUNDO. ;) VAMOS, PARAGUAY!

Stack24, in Sanchez, MEX lost a leader in the goal, I Don't know if your loss evens it up...?

it will take time for them to come together as a team...plus RonRon still has to play.

I think they controlled the match pretty much, they had lots of good chances, Paraguay never got a single shot on goal, not a good chance.

England did not play great, but they were the better side.

    Thanks Rivaldo!

This game is probably the best World Cup openers I can remember.

That ball was right on goal whether it flicked off the defenders head or not.

England deserved to win, but they didn't impress me at all.

I liked yesterday's team that did the Poland game, they were funny and informative. Tommy Smith is hilarious!

I wish we could have the british coverage though. Nobody beats John Motson.

    oops...sorry bout that.

Did anyone notice how Crouch and Beckham were wearing long sleeves while everyone else on the field was wearing SHORT sleeves? I wonder if FIFA even allows them to be off univorm like that. Should NOT be allowed, methinks. Beckham did not impress at all. One lucky goal is not impressive. Passes were ok, but nothing out of the ordinary.
click www.fifaworldcup.com <- right there. On the opening window. You are then taken to the main Cup page with results. For each game, there are highlights without commentators and commercials, put together by FIFA-YAHOO. These are the official highlights.

They were not impressive but it was their first match and they got an early goal which allowed them to sit back. They'll only get better and watch out when the wonder kid Rooney comes back!

The Sweden - T&T game should be much better. Sweden is a fun team to watch (Laarson and Ibrahimovic are awesome) and T&T has nothing to lose so they'll go all out.

I am really looking forward to the Argentina - Ivory Coast game. That is going to be a classic.

Swoly...there is no rule that players have to wear long or short sleeves. As long as the uniform matches, that's all that matters. Besides, who cares?

England did just enough today. They may be counting too much on the return of Rooney for offense. Crouch was terrible. When you're that tall, keep your hands down and just win the ball. Owen was non-existent. Lampard did very little. Beckham needs to concentrate more on his overall game and less on free kicks. He is a very uncreative player with the ball at his feet and under pressure. I'm still not sure how he was ever in the running for FIFA Player of the Year. I'm not sure I've ever seen him take anyone off the dribble.

Paraguay is a typical middle of the road South American team. They have some individual talent, but spend way too much time crying about fouls and rolling on the ground like they just got shot. GET UP AND PLAY!

Sweeden shoud destroy T & T. I know they have nothing to lose, but they also just don't have the talent to play with anyone in their group.

Argentina should win the game against Ivory Coast, but I expect it to be a very good game.
