The center ref holds the official clock. He stops his watch when necessary. The timekeeper in the pressbox doesn't know when. The time held up on the sidelines by the 4th official is for the fans and the players. It, too, is not official.

I like this play by play team better than the first crew.

Were you watching the pregame? "Put the ball in the back of the ole onion sack." I'm going to be saying that for the rest of this cup.

Ecuador's ball control and build ups from the midfield have been beautiful the last 20 mins of the first half. Its a treat to watch them slowly pass the ball around then explode toward the goal like they have.

Ecaudor looks like the better team, but they need security. Poland had several chances, all they need is to make one count and this becomes a whole different match.

Tommy Smyth. Its funny how much more knowledgable announcers sound b/c of their accent.

Ok i'm not impressed, not that i expected much from the teams playing today:
Costa Rica: not a good team, they might even be worse then T&T
Poland: i expected them to finish second in this poule, but that is not gonna happen
Ecuador: a bit better then expected, however it could just as well be that poland is just much worse then i thought.
Germany: didn't make a good impression, their defense is terrible, they did score nice goals, but they will have to play better then this to get trough the second round(the group stage will be easy since the rest is worse)

Poland got screwed. Their goal should not have been nullified because of offsides...and if that was offsides, Ecaudor's second goal definitely should've been nullified because of it.

So because people do that, then they can't find entertainment in the rest of it?

Becasue they are so hard to come by that they do go crazy when one is scored. Much like Hockey they play and play and the climax is to get a goal. But sometimes both teams play so well that they can't score on each other.

Soccer is about equal in scoring to the NFL.

Each goal is like a touchdown.

So Germany would have won today's game 28-14, and Equador would have won 14-0.

The only difference in soccer is there is no settling for a field goal...it is all or nothing.

    The beautiful game.
