I guess this means Klinnsman will be available for Team USA.

    US seek Klinsmann deal

US bound: Jurgen Klinsmann may be the next US coach

The United States football federation are prepared to throw money at Jurgen Klinsmann when the World Cup finishes to tempt him to replace Bruce Arena as manager of their national team.

Arena, whose side were eliminated at the group stage in Germany, will leave his post to pursue a job in club football and Klinsmann, a California resident, has been identified as the man to elevate US soccer to the next level.

A senior American federationa source has told The Daily Telegraph that preliminary contact has been made. It is thought that the Americans will put a deal on the table that exceeds the £1.5 million a year Klinsmann earns with Germany. That would be three times what they have been paying Arena.

The stylish success of the German team has been met with enormous enthusiasm, and the German football federation (DfB) are under immense public pressure to offer Klinsmann a new deal.

However, he does not want to move from his Santa Barbara home, and with the DfB keen for him to carry on until the World Cup in South Africa in 2010, another four

It's possible that the US will be the only team to get a goal vs. Italy.

Sure, it was an own goal but we got it. :D

The Italian defense was suffocating. The Germans, I thought, dominated the OT period and looked destined to score. On the other hand, it seemed like the Italians were kicking the ball back and slowing down the game, seemingly satisfied with the PK shootout...then what do you know? Two chances for Italy in OT and they score on both...weird game, but exciting finish.

Italy has a great counter attack, but damn the flopping after every challenge is weak.

    Go France...

And if they win the final we would also be the only team to not lose to them.

    eeeeekkkk!!!! What a meltdown!!
Well the Brasilians had the Maracanazo, so I guess it's only fair that the Germans have the Dort-mundialazo....well kind of since it wasn't the final.

I’ve grown a hatred for teams that like to flop...Italy and Portugal are both ahead of the game in that department… that’s why I hope France wins…generally their players have been fair.

Actually, Italy had at least two more chances at the start of the OT. Gilardino's shot hit the pole. And I think Zambrotta also have a shot that barely missed.

I was ready for the PK. Great finish.

OK, I admit it -- Italy and Portugal are floppers. Shame on them. But with Germany's exit, my bracket's now intact. Who else had Italy in the final and Portugal v. France in the other semi? (I have Portugal winning tomorrow -- if they do, I'm going to Vegas before my luck runs out.)

I was really hoping that Germany would just slaughter Italy. I've never been a fan. I do have to say that today was one hell of a game. It's a shame it has to go in the record books as 2-0. They played very well for about 118 minutes. It was just an amazing finish by Italy. I have to believe that they will be heavy favorites against either France or Portugal.

i saw the replay...italy dominated this game in my view...the stats show they were the more aggressive team...more offsides, more shots, and more corner kicks...totti and pirlo played real well and their defense shut germany down...germany also had a lot more fouls than italy...looks like france and italy have started to play real well at the right time...it's gonna be a good final between those two (revenge for euro 2000?) unless portugal can stop zidane and company.

Not sure if the Portugese can stop Zidane but they can definitely stop the match with their superb flopping techniques.

IMHO, Figo is one of the best floppers in the world, I remember one of the commentators said during the England match, "Figo is so experienced, he fell even the slightest contact.".

What were you smoking? A well deserved win for Italy, and they had way more chances in OT as well. Or did you conveniently forget them hitting the post twice in the first OT half?

I was watching the game in a bar, but i was the only one who wanted italia to loose(note that i do not say i wanted germany to win). So the bar went crazy when italia scored. It is ok by me, a german loss is always nice, but why did Grosso have to score

Ok now all my hopes are with France. they have to beat portugal. If the finals will be italia against portugal then i would hate it. So Viva la France. Go Zidane :D
