Because just like Bruce Arena he over thinks things.

The funny thing is that no EPL team plays with only 1 striker they all play with 2, so the players on England are not used to playing that formation.

    Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Paul Scholes retired from International play, so he couldn't be selected (well unless they made him change his mind).

It was just stupid..i mean they had a playmaker and a person that created mismatches with height...it was a weird call and id on't understand the concept...and it cost them.

Any predictions on the game coming up? I got Brazil taking this 2-1

France is very very good and very talented but as I said before, you never know which team is going to show up. Sometimes they look amazing and sometimes they look like they couldn't beat a club team. France is going to get plenty of chances to score b/c Brazil's defense is suspect as they are always attacking and R. Carlos and Cafu are ageing. In the end Brazil is just too good. Unless Zidane can play as he did in the '98 final, France is going home (If anyone can turn it on though, it is the legend ZIZOU!)

I don't understand it either. I think he felt that with 2 strikers they were not scoring anyways and not getting many chances so why not let Rooney who is everywhere and so dangerous, roam around with an extra midfielder who can push up. Its time for him to leave and now Steve McClaren who was doing most of the coaching on the sidelines anyways is taking over.

More than Stupid, if you are going to play Beckam for his set pieces, then you have to give him a target like Crouch......just boggles my mind.

THOSE(giving it up) are the kind of plays combined with Brazil's overrall talent that will win the Cup.

Freakin' Zidane! Why is he retiring again? The French are dominating the midfield, thanks in no small part to 'His Baldness'.

Very entertaining game so far, France are fun to watch (unlike England).

Brazil needs to wake up and start playing, I am yet to see a truly impressive performance by them so far in this cup, I haven't seen them thoroughly dominate as of yet.

Oh yeah, and where has Ronaldinho been? He's been AWOL the entire tournament.

That's the scary thing Tiger.Brazil is not playing their best, yet here they are.I would think "the next Pele" will see plenty of pitch time in the second...As far as ZZ..Yes he is amazing.I admit I have rooted against him so many times and am continually(and annoyingly) always impressed.

I think the ref made the right call with only giving the yellow - Roberto Carlos were there as well, but he certainly made the wrong call with the Ronaldo hand ball - either you blow a penalty for a hand ball in the box - or you have them redo the free kick for moving the wall - he clearly called it a handball and then it is a penalty. OTOH a penalty would be harsh as he has to have his hands somewhere - but the minute you call it a handball, it is a penalty.

the guy gets double teamed immediately after touching the ball, it's up to other players to show up. They are doing the same thing to Ronaldo. GO FRANCE!

Dr.Strangelove...it's not that Brazil is not playing well… France is just playing THAT well. :D

    Zizou to Henry and goal!

Guess how many times that has happened before for France?
