Germany never loses a game to PKs, when Argentina failed to win in regulation/OT, I almost turned off my TV, I knew it was over.

This England vs Portugal match should be amazing, especially if it comes close to what happened in Euro 2004 (England was robbed of a clear goal where they called a foul on Sol Campbell who clearly did not push the goalie but had position for the header). I believe each team scored in OT and England ended up losing in PK's. It's revenge time.

Those of you dogging Rooney need to actually watch this guy. He is an amazing talent (I like to compare him to Lebron). He is going to go down as a legend barring any serious injury. He is so fast, has bulky body, amazing dribbling skills, powerful and accurate shot, fearless, plays with so much passion, and best of all he is a playmaker not just a striker. Rooooney Roooney, Roooooney.

Man i knew how boring a game could be with one team playing with a loan striker...now we have 2 teams against each other with lone strikers and it's putting me to sleep.

That flopping on Manache is EXACTLY why you should just play on....screw the guy on the ground......if the other team wants to stop the action get the ball back.

Too many flops now to be sportsman, because flopping is not sportsmanship.

Well deserved red card for Rooney...man that guy is an absolute a-hole, I hate his guts! He looks/acts like a soccer hooligan.

that was not a red card offense, IMHO.

And I love the way Rooney plays with passion and aggression.....I wish the USA played that hard.

    from the bbc:
62 mins: RED CARD Frustration gets the better of Wayne Rooney and he is sent off. He wrestles for the ball with Ricardo Carvalho on the halfway line and stamps on the defender's testicles. The Chelsea man goes off for treatment and soon returns. Rooney just goes off.

Dude, what flop? Did you even watch the replay? He crushed the man's nuts AND then proceeded to shove everyone around. He's like an angry pitbull. He needed a timeout.

    Red card well deserved...

If England gets through, Rooney is out for the semi....wow !

And it did not look like Rooney did it on purpose to me.

You and I must be watching a different game then, because from the replay it looked like he did it on purpose.

    Anyways, back to the game...

England's downfall will be its inability to finish chances they get; that's what the Germans excel at. The Italians and the French, IMO, also do a better job at being more efficient on offense. The English seem to need a lot of chances just to get one goal, which ultimately will be their downfall.

The one team that's left in the WC I can root for is France, simply because I would love to see Zidane go out on top, he deserves it. However, I think France could declare this WC a success even if they don't get past Brazil.
