Yeah there was a foul but Henry made it look like he had been nailed in the face.

Props to RONALDO for being the all-time leading scorer in World Cup History! I dogged him for his lazyness but he has a knack for the goal and gainning fitness.

This pic is pretty funny. Roberto Carlos looks like a cry baby.

Actually I watched 82 world cup in Spain, but I was too young to remeber the details. I became a big fan of Juventus afterwards and watched some of Rossi and Zoff and a lot of Platini and Boniek. Too bad all the scandals surrounding Juve right now. Hope they will bounce back just like AC.Milan 20 some years ago.
I do remember Italy started out slow in 82, and surprised a lot of teams in the final round. Rossi was the hero. Maradona had a bad year in Barcelona too, or was it after the World Cup? That famous picture Zico holding his son tears in eyes is gold.

Watching the replay by the 4th Ref won't take much time and doesn't necessary mean advertisement time. I agree with arno_ed and I am fine with judging with replay for goals and red cards. Aren't we watching the instant replay of goals and still manage to watch the next kick off now? And the red cards, we often watch the replay after replay, listening to the commentators' judgement and then the free kick was still not taken since the referee was still busy dealing with the players whining.

The 2nd Brazilian goal is exactly the reason why our referees need aid of video technology. The referee at the sideline made a mistake but we can hardly blame him because the pace of that play was simply too fast. You can see from the replay that sideline referee chasing like no tomorrow but still behind the players and I believe that his angle (he was looking behind the players) might not notice that Adriano was offside. Ironically, he is the only one didn't recognize the offside at that time 'coz the instant replay a couple seconds after showed the rest of the world that it was an offside without doubt!

Ghana played a good game against Brazil and they should be proud of themselves. And like the other poster mentioned earlier, Ghana coach Dujkovic was missing in the 2nd half. No reports on this at all, anyone knows why?

And Spain proves to others again that they can only play well in the group matches. Brazil vs France in quarter-finals, simply reminds me of the all time classic '86 World Cup quarter-finals, France tied Brazil 1-1 then knocked them out at penalties.

    My prediction of semi-finalists

    Germany
Italy (though I really hope Ukraine could proceed...)
    England
France, oh nope, Brazil, nope, France, nope...arrhhhh

    How about yours?

The defender did try to block Grosso and you can see he moved his left arm awkwardly on the ground and Grosso was taking advantage on this contact. I agree that Grosso "exagerrated" the contact but the contact was genuine and Grosso was fouled.

Sorry but i couldn't disagree more, There was NO contact, atleast there was contact but it was initiated by Grosso. This was a terrible call. The guy lies on the ground and wasn't touching him. Grosso deliberatly hooked his food behind the defender. It was not a penalty, not even close, IMHO

there's no foul at all; the contact is initiated by grosso ... in france on tv we have ex-refs analyzing the calls after the games ... they were unanimously saying it was a bad call ...

    Quarterfinals
GER 3 : 2 ARG (My heart wants Argentina)
    ENG 2 : 2 POR (OT PK's ENG wins)
    ITA 2 : 1 UKR
    BRA 3 : 1 FRA
    Semifinals
    GER 2 : 1 ITA
    BRA 3 : 2 ENG
    Final
    BRA 2 : 1 GER

BRAZIL CHAMPS FOR THE SIXTH TIME, 3 TIMES IN 4 WC's!!!

I would love for Argentina to beat Germany and advance to the final so we can have a mouth watering rivalry final between the two S. American Powers (since I can't have my dream Holland vs. Brazil final :( ) Germany is just playing so well and have the home field advantage.

ENGLAND's massive army of World Cup fans is drinking Germany dry, it emerged yesterday.

Breweries warned beer could run out before the final because of huge demand from our supporters.

In Nuremberg, organisers revealed 70,000 England fans who flooded the city drank 1.2MILLION pints of beer - an average of 17 pints each.

Astonished bar keeper Herrmann Murr said: "Never have I seen so many drink so much in such little time."

Herr Murr calculated Britons were shifting beer at a staggering rate of 200 pints per minute.

City official Peter Murrmann said: "The English proved themselves world champs. They practically drank us dry."

Stuttgart bar chiefs said an extra 900,000 pints were sunk last weekend where 60,000 fans partied before and after our 1-0 win over Ecuador.

A spokesman said: "It is incredible how much is being drunk but the hardest thing for the breweries is keeping up with the thirst of the English."

Max, it's probably a very good thing that Ireland didn't qualify.

"Never have I seen so many drink so much in such little time." - Not exactly Churchill on the Battle of Britain - "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." - but the Brits should be proud as hell regardless.

That wouldn't have been called in my Sunday men's league. It was weak and should have never been called...certainly not with just seconds left in regulation. Let them play it out in overtime. Don't decide the game when Australia had battled to stay in it a man down.

The ref's in this World Cup have forgot the golden rules of refereeing. The game is for the players & the best ref is the one that is not noticed.

That was a flop. Grosso's only concern was the ball. If the other Aussie defender wasn't so close he would have easily passed Neill (who was on the ground with no way of stopping him unless he had grabbed him) and possibly had an easy shot on goal . As it was the other defender was coming in fast so Grosso did what any smart/devious/italian soccer player would do, FLOP. It was "exaggerated" and the implied contact was used to fool the ref.
I hope the Italians lose the next game on penalties. That's another thing they're good at doing.
