Yeah, TVU player is working again!

I've got to give Ronaldo credit, he's not the player he was and played like ass in the first game but he's not been as terrible as some (including myself) have said and he's been improving as the tourney goes on.

With guys like Ronaldhino and Kaka passing him the ball as long as he can shoot straight that's all he needs to do for Br. to be successful

I thought it was weak too. The difference between soccer and basetball on a play like that is that basketball is an offensive game where hundreds of plays produce points, so one flop has a much more negligible effect and over time the team playing better almost always wins. But to make no effort to continue the play in a sporting fashion and flop is a dissappointing way to solely determine an outcome of a high stake game. Those are times the ref should swallow the wistle so to speak.

I agree wholeheartedly. Italy has wonderfull food and art and pace of life, but their sportsmen and fans and politicians and administrators are the worst. Their soccer reflects ALL their worst traits rolled into one.

Holland kinda sucked this year. I thought the Argentina game was very dissappointing because with nothing to lose (already qualified, draw meant the #2 seed) they really packed it in versus an Argentina team playing lots of reserves, and I thought made little effort to push the tempo. After that game it was no surprise or dissappoint to me they lost to Port.

I don't remember Itally in the 90s cup but their 94 effort was an abomination, playing for a 0-0 shootout from the start. Making no effort to score and packing it in versus Brazil in the finals made for lousy soccer. Luckily karma was on, and Baggio (?) and another or two missed in the shootout.

I also am looking forward to Italy going home. It sucks they won't have had to play a top quality team before the semis where teams like France-Spain have to play in round 1. Heck Italy has a free pass not even having to play as team as good as Holland, Portugal, Sweden or Mexico until the semis. What a bunch of schedulling/seeding bullcaca favoring the Italians.

It's just not in Italy's nature to play all-out attacking ball. They are a good team nonetheless. Too conservative at times, e.g. last world cup kicked out by South Korea. You watch Brazil for offense, you watch Holland for total soccer and you watch Italy for its chain defense. Italy never blown out anybody but it's hard to score on them in the world cup. It's their philosophy. The one team disgusts me is England and I am a big fan of England's. Their middle field is way overrated. But they've got luck so far. Dont be surprised that they appear even in the final. This is the beauty of world cup IMO.

Apparently you've never watched the '82 World Cup. The performance of the Squadra Azzurri captained by Dino Zoff in that World Cup is one for the ages -- arguably the best ever considering the competitions faced by the Italians.

After barely squeezed into the 2nd round, Italy beat Argentina 2-1, Brazil 3-2, Poland 2-0, and West Germany 3-1, en route to its 3rd World Cup title.

The Argentines were the defending champion with the addition of a young and cocky Maradona. Brazil, boasting megastars Zico, Socrates, and Falcao at the top of their careers, was the hottest team coming into the World Cup and on quest for an unprecedented 4th title. The only "exception" was Poland, which was missing its super striker Zbigniew Boniek due to suspension. The traditional powerhouse West German team featuring stalwart Rummenigge was also one of the top contenders.

Paolo Rossi peaked at the right time and made name for himself by scoring 6 goals in the last 3 games. The Azzurri however was a very fine and balanced team overall.

france and spain are goin on right now. almost every black futbol fan is behind france for this game because of spains racist manager. Thats unfortunate cos spain have an amazing squad, one of the best they've ever had i believe. their lineup is just a powerhouse, but their managers comments about henry stunk.

    so allez les bleus.

For all the quality super league clubs Spain has, it has never made into a semi in World Cup history. That's pathetic if you ask me.

England is a close 2nd, its controversial title in 1966 notwithstanding.

He was talking to one of his forwards and kept trying to tell him that he was better than Henry, who he called a "negro de mierdo"

Thanks for the link! I will get my tix soon.

In all fairness, that 0-0 final was not as the score indicates. Both teams had many chances and that was the one WC I remember Italy actually playing offensive minded.

No problem. I will root for BRAZILall the way since HOLLANDis out but I just wanna see great matches. I predicted from the start that England would win it all (I just have a feeling it is their year) but I hope they don't because they have played ugly

Wow! I am glad I came home early to watch the FRANCE vs SPAIN. This is why I wanted France to advance, so the legend Zidane can work more of his magic. Very sweet. For those who don't really understand, watching Zidane is like watching an MJ or Brett Favre, everytime he steps on the field is special because there are only so many matches left in his career. Beautiful that he helped set up the 2nd goal and scored the 3rd (even though Henry flopped).

there is a foul by puyol on this play, and if henry doesnt 'flop', the ref never call the foul
