Eh sorry i do not really understand the question, he is currently not active as a coach. That penalty for italia was terrible, how in the world can the ref give a penalty for that, it was not even close to being a penalty.
China is considering him as the head coach of our Olympics team. I learned that he used to be the coach of Feyenoord (your favorite soccer club team?). See if you think he is a good coach or not. Go GAHNA, Go FRANCE!!!
I'm actually quite a fan of van hanegem. he is a straight forward person, he did pretty well with Feyenoord, and he was also the guy who made AZ(another dutch team) respectible again. I think he is a very good fit for a team who is not playing as it should, he is firm, and he can definetly help the chinees team. He is not as good as Hiddink, but he is IMHO better then advocaat. He is also very funny in interviews.
Just on the Aussie game..... Im not a huge soccer fan...but even I know that far into injury time you dont ATTEMPT a "tackle" like that with the scores level.
England is blaming their suck on the watering of the pitch. Man that's lame. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=372669&cc=5901
Video replay decisions? That's funny... so when do you want to stop the game to make the ref go to the sideline, every 1 minute a call is disputed? No wonder the rest of the world thinks the MLS is a joke ... always wanting to change a good thing... what do you want next, 20 timeouts??? I can't believe none of you other soccer enthusiasts caught that.
I think that video decisions can be a good thing, but it has to be the fourth ref who looks at the video. Also it should only be done with very importent things, like a Red card, a ball which could be a goal or not, a penalty or not and those sort of things. Those things can change a game in the bad way. Looking at a video replay after every move is not desirable, but a fourth ref should watch the tv, and signal the first ref if he makes a mistake wich a goal or a red card or a penalty. IMHO
I say NO WAY, man... taking out the human element or much less doubting the ref is not just a bad thing to do, it's a disrespect for the rules of the game. Clearly if a ref makes bad calls which are blatant or completely look clear as going the other way, he needs to be fined or not allowed to ref another important match, but don't stop the game for more advertisement time. DON'T STOP THE GAME.
Did he say stop the game? And wouldn't that be too late for an entire Country's hopes? From a soccer noob's perspective, I have been shocked at this year's WC. I was under the mistaken impression that flops were not permitted. And all of the 'injuries' late in the game to chew up clocktime (the clock may still be rolling but the game sure has stopped)...horrible inconsistencies in calls... this sport needs a serious rules overhaul.
I am against video replay decisions. That would completely ruin the game. The ONLY time I might be fine with it is for one of those where the ball completely crosses the goal line and the ref misses it, but even then I would say just stick another official behind each goal to monitor the situation. There will always be controversy, even with replays.
You could always chip the ball, to where a sensor goes off in the linesman's earpiece if the ball crosses the plane of the goal. No replay necessary. DD
To bad brazil scored. Who said the good teams didn't flop? Or is Brazil not a good team.Stupid move by Adriano
It seems like all of the streams are having issues. I'm currently on the Haitian one it it keeps cutting out every couple of seconds. I was on ESPN360 earlier and it was like watching a slide show.
This is exactly why video can help, adriano was offside twice and still his goal counted, terrible. I really hope the brazillians will loose soon(sorry rivaldo). The teams i will cheer for are Argentina and Spain.
that was FRIGGIN offside...the refs are horrible...ghana is playing so well ever since Brazil scored...it whould be 1-1...sad. my team is gone!
