what do you have to back up that statement at all?

we have longed for a long athletic defender that can slash and shoot for so long.

i think we need another 2 and backup center. for the 2 spot, i dunno but as for the center, i think Shaq would make a good pickup. hes old and isnt as dominant but he can still protect the paint and since he wouldnt be starting, foul trouble isnt an issue. even only if he has a year or two left, it'd be worth it. not to mention, we'd get alot more publicity and attention.

Because if Yao were to go down for any significant amount of time.....which is possible to say the VERY least, Brad Miller would be and has been a much more capable starter in this league than Anderson. Yes he is older and a step slower...but he is more experienced and more "everyday" ready than Anderson by a longshot

Plus Miller is like Bob Sura. He brings that gritty, dont ***** with me, attitude.

Getting Al Jefferson and Miller would be great. I hope Morey gets it done. I am just glad Scola and Lowry will be back.

If Morey can somehow pry Danny Granger off of Indiania's hand or Al Jefferson from the Wolves, I will be happy.

Indiana just drafted Paul George and that got me thinking maybe they want him to be Granger's replacement. They also need a point guard and we could send them Aaron Brooks.

Another far fetched idea might be taking Okafor's albatross contract off NO's hand if it netted us CP3.

I'd cry for Aaron Brooks if we had to send him to Indiana.

I think we should work on a 3 way trade with Atlanta and Minnesota. We trade Battier, Ariza, & Hill to Minnesota. Minnesota trades Al Jefferson to Atlanta and Atlanta trades Josh Smith and Marvin Williams to Houston. The teams could throw in any filler necessary to get it completed.

We get one of the better young power forwards in the NBA in Josh Smith, but have to add salary in order to do it. However, I think it would be worth taking the chance.

It makes sense for Atlanta because they get the center they need that will allow Al Horford to slide over to the 4 as well as cutting $5M off of their salary for next year.

Minnesota gets team leadership with Battier, a quality back-up for Kevin Love, and a talented wing in Ariza that has a very reasonable contract. They will also reduce their salary number after Battier's contract expires. Plus the trade will free up time for Darko and Hollins at the 5.

Ray Allen and somehow get Brad Miller without losing any core and bench would put us in The Finals next year as long as Yao stays healthy.

And ur happy with a aging Battier playing big minutes. You do realize if we did that trade, we'd have ZERO offense from our SF position. We could start Bud but he'd get clobbered on defense. Ariza cant go unless we're getting another starting SF

Adding a back up Center should be a natural happening, completely independent of what Morey is doing to improve the team in the offseason.
Jordan Hill could fit quite well with our up tempo back up squad.
    Go Rockets!!!!!!!! :p

I think Trevor would actually benefit with Yao back in the line up..

How's Brad Miller working out so far...grrr!

    Miller - 44 minutes, 2-10 shooting, 0-2 3Pters, 12 rebounds, 1 block
    Andersen - 27 minutes, 6-10 shooting, 1-2 3Pters, 10 rebounds, 1 block

and we'll be handling out $15MM to Miller over the next 3 years...to play Defense like a statue, provide NO rim protection, and launch bricks.

HORRIBLE signing. Too many dollars and too many years. He's now an OLD version of David Andersen...a truly mediocre player...but at least Andersen was cheap.

Miller is better than Andersen was last year. I'm pretty confident in that.

And the third year is a team option, I believe.

The third year has a $1MM buyout option.

Personally I doubt that Miller will be better than Andersen THIS year, but time will tell. Miller is in steep decline. Neither is the answer as a backup C, but one would have cost $2.5M, the other wastes at least $11M (and up to $15M) in salary commitment.

Miller stinks so bad that we're picking up Dampier AND still playing Hayes major minutes at C - just to get a bit of defense at the position.

Signing both Miller and Dampier proves to me that giving Miller that contract was a big mistake. I'm concerned Miller may end up being like (a MUCH more expensive version of) Brent Barry. He may be a washed up player the Rockets were one or two years too late on.

    It's early though.
