I've been saying all of this BEFORE the season started. He's an OUTDATED coach! Living in NY since 1995 and knowing a few NY Knick staff, I know how egotistical and stubborn he is in his ways.

    I TOLD YOU ALL SO!

And the "I hate JVG" club continues to grow! :p

Rudy is still on the payroll. Make Rudy the head coach. He could score more than 8-15 points per quarter. Make Van Gundy the defensive assistant coach.

How the hell can you take Steve, Yao, Cuttino , Maurice and Jim Jackson and design an offense for them to score 8 -15 points per quarter?

Can someone explain to me why JVG takes Yao off when he's hot?

Due to a malfunction with my VCR, I did not see the Indy game but other than a longer rotation I have not had a problem with JVG. IMHO, the Rockets' players overall are poor passers and don't make good decisions within whatever offense is installed.

I personally don't see a whole lot of difference in the way the Spurs' Poppovich coaches and Van Gundy. The Spurs are pretty outdated, too...but they win. And Yao is no Duncan and Parker makes better decisions than Francis.

A high level of frustration exists on the board, but I can enjoy tough defense a lot more than ISO ball. Everytime I get really frustrated, I just remind myself that Francis has yet this season to drive into the paint going 1 on 3 or 1 on 4. And we can still read the "Spaulding" on the ball at games' end. :)

Your vcr must have started malfunctioning in October. Steve still drives into the paint 1 on 3 or 4. Only he isn't as successful as in the past.

The Rockets look bad and there is no getting around it. After 28 game we are worst then last year with more talent and a more physical Yao. I think it's safe to say the Rudy for Van Gundy experiment was a big flop.

I have 23 of the 26 games on tape and I defy you to give just one instance of 1 on 3 or 1 or 4. You are a noted PRC-extremist and any rational discussion with you is futile. :)

And on the remote chance you are correct about Francis? Then BOTH coaches are wrong, not just one! :p

The difference between Pop and JVG....

Pop knows his players strengths and weaknesses and fits the peaces into the system. JVG still insist on molding his players into his system.

Pop AND PJ Carlesimo are better teachers to this young NBA Generation. JVG & staff are stuck in their old school methods.

Pop knows how to inspire a team and make them better. JVG inspires mediocrity.

Pop has adapted to the NBA environment with the new rule changes, etc. while JVG continues to play circa 1995 NBA.

    and finally....

    POP = 2 RINGS
    JVG = 0 RINGS

Don't try to compare who the better coach is!

Pop is NOT and outdated coach as you can tell by their current winning streak.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done at this point with JVG but hope and pray he himself can change. I've already accepted at the beginning of the season that he is not going anywhere or getting fired nor will Les tell him what to do. However, it won't stop me from being the president of the "I hate JVG" club. ;)

There's nothing wrong wtih trying to establish a rotation and letting the players try to get comfortable with each other on the court, even when they aren't hitting their shots.

When are we gonna make a damned basket?!?

True. That's why Memphis will reach the playoffs, while Houston will not.

    Van Gundy's system is fine.

I think Gundy has added consistency to this ball club.

    1. Nearly every game our team plays decent defense.

    2. We are for the most part beating teams we are supposed to beat and losing to teams that seem to have greater talent.

    3. The elite teams (Lakers, Spurs, Kings, Mavs and Wolves) don't take the Rockets lightly anymore. This is a good sign. Meaning we are on the bubble of becoming elite.

Our record indicates that we are on par to make the playoffs. If we do that I think that would be considered a good milestone for us. However, I really would like this team to have a goal of getting to the second round of the playoffs. I think we are still missing a couple of players. I think our major problem is still our backcourt. We need greater rhythm.

To get to the 2nd round of the playoffs, we'd have to play Minnesota in the first round :)

Consistently bad coaching decisions in the second half

8-2 against the East Teams and 6-10 against the West teams. You call getting our asses and embarrased by Phoenix, Seattle, Memphis, and Toronto (in OT) beating the teams we are SUPPOSED to beat? Think again!

I got news for you... we are in the Western Conference. Being under .500 against the western conference doesn't get the job done.

Are you kidding me? These teams dont even like to double Yao and let our guys wide open for shots because they know they can't buy a basket.

Better hope that the Rockets can make the playoffs.

Yeah....a roster of Battier, Bell, Williams, Miller, Gasol, Wells, Wright, etc is that much more talented than the Rockets.

    ......one more time

Hubie knows basketball, Gundy is some chump that took an ugly defensive team to the playoffs several times in the East.
Knick basketball was ugly, and surprise...surprise, Houston basketball is now ugly.....errrr.......uglier.

I used to lurk on the New York Times' Knicks board in the year or so before Van Gundy left that team.
The mood of this thread reminds me of the mood and complaints of the posters back then. Hmm...

But still I'm willing to wait out the year to see if the team can right their wrongs before making too many comparisons.

Your right on the money!! This team is extremely consistant at scoring less than 80pts. Van Gundy is doing a great job!!!
