Why would you blame CD? This goes right to the TOP- Les is a "Cheap Owner" who puts finances before basketball- we shot ourselves one more time!
Kemp signing is'nt all that bad. he has slimmed down to 265 pounds which is somewhat close to his Reginman days of when he was at 250 pounds. i gotta felling kemp is gonna be pretty good next season.
what's so hard about formulating plan b? CD knows who's on the roster, and what position they play. He knows where the wholes are. go to espn . friggin com and check the list of fa's left. go after the best one left at the position you need.
Great post man. I agree fully with what you said. I wanted to type a post saying the exact same thing but since you already did all of the work I will bump this one.
you gotta be kidding me surely? the Hemp man is d-o-n-e. I don't care if he's back down to his Seattle playing weight. The skills and the hops don't magically reappear when you shed a few kilos. Those were evidently on the decline during the Orlando run, and what has the last couple of seasons out of the league gonna do to help? He'll be super rusty, and older. I'm not even convinced he'll play another game in the league...if he does it will be painful to watch. why oh why can't he just leave us with the good memories.
True enough. The potential is there. If it happens, we'll be contenders ...if it doesn't happen, we'll probably never be contenders regardless of how many Mike James's we sign.
What all this boils down to is that WIN NOW Senario is nothing but a LIE and an excuse to cover their mistakes made in preparation for the DRAFT.It is also to cover that JVG is having a controling influence on Rockets [CD]thinking as he is trying to save his limited reputation. In all their erroneous thinking I was afraid that they possibly thought that getting Battier and James would mistakenly be the mainstay of a making us into a championship contender and that they would have little to do after that. I was correct in my analysis as there is of course no plan B or plan to build out the rest of the team to the high standards need to day to win a championship. Les is a shrewd businessman and I am amaized how he like the fans and city are being deceived.
Kenny Smith and Robert Horry were not scrubs. Just because some fans decided to make Kenny Smith a goat not realizing he was a perfect fit in an offense that relied on the center dominating the ball. People b****ed at Kenny Smith because he was not a distributor and that's not what Smith was asked to do in that oiffense. Robert Horry was a good fit for the team too. You have a point with Chucky but that's it. And Chucky lost his spot to Horry in the playoffs and Mario Elie came in to play SF, so that point is kinda irrelevant.
That is why I am still angry that we traded Gay. This team needs a third player that is above role player. We can have all the nice role players in the world but in this league you need more than 2 very good players to win. I understand that some people think Battie will help a lot to this team, and that is true but it won't be good enough. He is a nice role player but can not create things for himself. Gay might have been that third player we needed. Maybe not this year, but there was the hope for the next 2 or 3 years. With the way this team is being assembled we don't have hope for many years to come.
Seriously, what else is he going to say publicly? Oh, yeah, we didn't think Mike would come back here, so we've been working the phones trying to put something else together? No. That suggests that we don't have enough faith in our own organization to think that we can get the free agents we want, and also invites questions about who we're trying to get, which you obviously don't reveal because the trade value goes up for people you want and down for parts you're trying to trade. I know everybody is frustrated right now, but I think y'all are reading too much into this.
Seriously concerned, seriousler frustrated that the statement could be/would be made by the head basketball maven of the team that they'll have to start working a Plan B.
You know that Dujuan Wagner idea would not be a bad idea. We could sign him for the minimum and see if he would work out. Very low risk at this point for a player with obvious talent.
not to mention the rule changes and the different players situations Hakeem's 93-94 team was unique. as my friend said the rockets simply played a different brand of basketball than anyone else Rocket River
Just because Kenny was a team goat or perceived subpar by fans doesn't make it so. Kenny was NOT a scrub. Fans were excited about Cassell. In 1995, Kenny shot 48.3% for the floor - 42.9% from 3PT range, with 4 assists in only 25 minutes. We would KILL for a scrub like that today. That scrub did pretty well for himself in Game 1 of the Finals, as I recall. His first year with the Rockets, he averaged 17.7 PPG on 52% shooting with 7 assists a game getting starters minutes. Kenny accepted a reduced role and the team and city owe him a huge debt of gratitude for not causing problems. Something, I doubt, Mike James would understand. Oh yeah, it was well known that Kenny was also the fastest player on the team (even faster than Maxwell). Don't worry, I was surprised too when I heard it.
I agree. Les is a cheap owner who never wants to take a chance to help improve the team. I mean, besides bringing in Drexler, bringing in Barkley, bringing in Pippen, bringing in Francis, trading up to get Griffin, drafting an unknown in Yao Ming, and bringing in McGrady, he has done NOTHING to try and improve the team during his tenure. You can second guess the moves Les has approved all you want, but you can't accuse him of being a "cheap owner" just because Mike James signed with the T-wolves.
While I am dissappointed with the lack of a readily available plan B, who else is left in the free agent market that can really make a difference on our team for our price? Once Mike James went to Minny, our options dropped tremendously. Greg Buckner would have been a nice pick-up, but we lost out on that and I don't blame CD at all. If I were Greg Buckner I would go to the Mavs too so the only option left is overpaying to get him to Houston which I would not do. This FA market no longer has the players that will help us with what we need. I assume that CD is now evaluating trade situations, which in itself, requires more time anyway. So basically, I am looking as the postive of this. By not immediately signing an insignificant player with the MLE, we save ourselves from adding another ~5 million to over the cap for a player that we will send off next season anyway. CD can now deal with some "lesser quality" role players to find a better fit instead of looking at the "best available" best on last years stats. Granted, this could have been done months ago, but who knows what CD has been up to anyway. But then again, I also don't think that JHo will be back next season. No source, just a gut feeling.
