OK, it's a co-worker's birthday, and somebody brings one of those big sheet cakes from the grocery store. Which piece do you prefer?

I'm not big on frosting, so I always wait for an interior piece. If there is whipped cream frosting on top, however, I'll make an exception. I love that stuff. Sam's is the only place I know that uses the whipped cream frosting, though.

"But... but... the ratio of people to cake is too big."

TRES LECHES rules, I tells ya!

    I like the sides.

    From: THE ALLIANCE
Michael: You were surprised, weren't you?
    Meredith: Yes.
Michael: You looked freaked, man. We said "Surprise." You were, like, "What?" "What the hell's goin' on here?" Good cake. Why don't you have some?
    Meredith: Uh, I can't. Um...
Michael: Come on. A little bit.
    Meredith: I can't eat dairy.
Michael: Oh, right. God, too bad. It's so good.
Meredith: Yeah, it makes me sick.
Michael: You know what? If I were allergic to dairy, I think I'd kill myself. 'Cause this [pointing at the cake] is way, way too good.

    "That's what SHE said."

    Well, that cheap icing sucks.

A corner piece of 50% icing.

Definitely middle piece. I HATE whipped icing. Nothing to me is more sickening. Regular icing is almost as bad.

unless it's from a mom-n-pop bakery, store bought cake stinks. You may as well just spoon 5 Tbs of sugar directly into your mouth. Tastes the same. Blech.

And my office folk sing the worst happy birthday in the history of that song. It is incredible. Not only are no two people in the same key (or even register), but they sing it very very slowly, like a dirge. I should record it and post it -- just amazing.

I do like cupcakes though, if the icing is under control.

We're having my son's first b-day party next week and we are going to make him a cake all his own that he can bury his face in. I think that's how I would like to eat cake from now on too.

I'm not a huge cake eater to begin with... But when I do eat cake, it's gotta be a corner or side piece for sure!

    Not when I make them.

Only good thing about me making cakes is I get to eat the cake mix off the spatula.
