Unfortunately, Moochie is not a democracy. :)

I hope the Rockets aren't stupid enough to even think about an Andre Miller/Steve Francis backcourt. That would be one of the worst defensive backcourt in quite a while. Not to mention Andre can't shoot worth a lick.

PG - East - Jamal Crawford, Alvin Williams, Kenny Anderson, Jason Terry
PF - West - Elton Brand, Karl Malone, Adonal Foyle, Stromile Swift, Dale Davis
SG - EAST - Eddie Jones, Latrell Sprewell, Voshon Lenard, Reggie Miller, Morris Peterson

make your predictions now. whoever comes closest wins an imaginary trip to the 2003-2004 playoffs.

Jon Barry sounds nice. We can try to obtain him by free agency.

But Alvin Williams? Good player....how can we get him?

And Troy Murphy..uhh..averages double double per game. Doesn't seem that aggressive. Stays on the perimeter...no post moves. Hmm...He's all right. But we probably can't get him...and I wouldn't attempt very hard to get him. BUT ANTAWN JAMISON DOES SOUND NICE.

I'm falling asleep reading the first 4 pages of this post. There's just so many suggestions and possibilities out there.

Here's how I see it:
1. Keep Yao in C (no change)
2. Move SF to SG (more natural position for him)
3. Get a good PG (not old guy like Payton, get Jason Kidd, Andre Miller, Michael Red, Eric Snow, Alvin William in that order)
4. Improve on Forward (EG needs to shoot well, and start taking care of business on the floor. I am all for getting Elton Brand even we give up EG, absolutely NO Karl Malone, he's old and he expects a good contract to end his career)
5. Do not sign so called veteran players that doesn't give you long term benefits. (i.e. Rice) No Bryon Russell, Jerry StackHouse.
6. Do not want Kwame Brown, he's got major attitude problem, we'll have another cry baby in the locker room.

Here's how I DREAM it:
1. Get Jason Kidd at all cost without sacraficing Yao.
2. Get Kobe at all cost without sacraficing Yao.
3. Get Tim Duncan at all cost without sacraficing Yao

Never going to happen though ;)

I understand how you feel. ;)

But Michael Redd is not a point guard. I don't think he can even dribble or handle the ball well. All he does is shoot. He doesn't have much brains. But he can really shoot.

I cant believe people think Francis will be a better player
at shooting guard than Mobley was. Francis is not an off-the-ball type scorer/player - he's no Iverson! Mobley at shooting guard is better than Francis will be at shooting guard( and hell Im not even talking about defense) If we trade Mobley, I think were getting rid of the wrong guy.

You guys are dreaming too high in the sky for some of those players they might get. Givn the cap set up, those visions of Elton Brand and Karla and Andre Miller are way too ambitious. Think LOW budget, like Charles Outlaw, Dale Davis, Mark Bryant caliber.

I know it sucks, but getting your hopes up only makes it worse.

No, you are assuming that, because without such clause, there is no ability to pay him less than full compensation, unless he agrees, or unless there is an ETO exists in his contract, which only refers to the last year in a 6-yr contact, anyhow...and we have no proof that such an option exists.

What I said is there is zero incentive for Moochie to take any buyout less than the fully-guaranteed portion of his contract. You are saying that, technically, we can threaten to never play him, unless he does. That's weak. Who's agent has ever blinked to an owner who has threatened that?

Players have agents to not fall for such things.

Yeah...Since you guys want Cat and EG out, what makes you think other teams want them...? Especially if they have to trade the likes of Elton Brand for them.

TS-
I'm one of the few that shares your concerns about SF coming off of screens and playing an off the ball game. However, have you ever heard the saying "Timing is everything"? Well, Francis will be a BYC player next season and Mobley has a favorable contract from a trade standpoint. And the Rockets have a new arena to fill.

IMO, how successful Francis is at SG will largely be determined by the PG and SF that play next to him. Some of the (more realistic)players mentioned in this thread (A. Williams, Voshon Lenard, Jaric, Odom, Sprewell, Barry) may minimize Francis's inexperience at the 2.

Fun thread because of what it doesn't say, because, of course, it doesn't say much. But it says it well.

More. More!

OK, if players Rox are looking at still in play-offs then their values are volatile.

If players Rox staff are looking at are by staff leaving, then what happens?

So, left to guess id's with a mixture of hope and reasonable guessing:
PG - East GP. It feels right, unless Bucks go deep in East.
PF - West EB. I want to believe in power of Falk to deliver the goods.
SG - EAST Spree.

Two old hands and one pair of good hands!

If we can't get Brand then I want Troy Murphy.

On the 1st round picks owed to us from the Bulls, I read it as if the pick that they give us in the first round is NOT THEIR OWN, then they also owe us the two 2nd round picks.

So, we get a first round pick from them regardless, it just may also include a couple of 2nd rounders too.

I'll play your game. Other than Doc Rocket saying he is "almost" sure of a team opt out clause, have you ever at any time or place heard it mentioned that Moochies' contract was anything less than 6 years? With what degree of frequency is this seen today in the NBA?

In the absence of ever hearing about such a clause for the past 2 years until just this evening, I'll stick with my assumption.

Now, do you think Moochie is playing like someone with a perform or get cut clause or like someone with a guarantee? Hard to imagine a perform or get cut player coming in overweight in year 2 of 6.

GATER, i guesss you have a good point when you say Mobleys contract is more favorable to trade. But Gater Im seriously not bull****ting you when I say ive never seen a guy pass up more wide open shots than Steve Francis - pass to a wide open Stevie on the wing and I swear to god the guy has to dribble for a few seconds and take a more difficult shot instead. I mean that is one thing major fault of Steve Francis game I noticed all year. Mobley on the other hand is a decent catch and shoot guy, he's especially improved in that area this year because of the inside out effect Yao gave us. I dont know, guess we'll just have to see how that works out.

It seems to me, Francis is the 2, we need a point who has a little 2 in him. What about Larry Hughes. There was another thread that said we were looking at the Wizards.
The 2 from the East won't be Michael Redd,he's probably the Bucks starter next year, hew won't come here for 8 minutes a game behind Steve, but Barry probably would.
The 4 from the West? The Nugz and the Warriors are stacked at the 4, but I'm thinking Stromile Swift. He's a shot blocker and solid rebounder and that's what we need splitting time with Taylor.
Just my 2 cents.

I am pretty sure the last two years of Moochies contract are not guaranteed. The 5th year he is suppose to get 3.6 mil and the 6th year 4.3 mil. I thought I heard RT or CD say that on 610 during training camp last year when Moochie finally finished holding out. We should have cut him then. I hate Fegan grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

As far as the here is my prefrence:
EAST PG - E Snow
EAST SG - E Jones
WEST PF - Brand

Also would be good
EAST PG - Cassel
EAST SG - Houston
WEST PF - Wallace

I really don't see what's so good about Alvin Williams...

First...sign Jon Barry. :D

Then make a trade to get Alvin Williams...

Somethin like...

Cuttino Mobley and Eddie Griffin and Glen Rice

For

Alvin Williams, Antonio Davis, and a 1st Round Draft Pick

OR

Alvin Williams, Antonio Davis, and Voshon Lenard. ;)

Would they accept...?

Like I said earlier, I don't think getting another star player will help us. It will just cause more mouths to feed when we don't have enough food already.

Murphy is my dream PF right now. Trade Mobley for Murphy and filler.
With the fact that the Bulls owe us a couple picks and Jamal Crawford is on the blocks, it wouldn't be hard to pick him up. Maybe Griffin and picks for Crawford.
Then we can try to pick up Jon Barry out of FA.

Yao / Cato
Murphy / Mo Tay / T mo
Posey / Nachbar / Barry
Steve / Barry / Crawford
Crawford / Steve / Barry
