I just don't understand why the Rockets don't bring Spanoulis in!! I keep hearing that he is supposed to be one of the better point guards in Europe. He wants to play for the Rockets. An the Rockets need a point guard that has play making ability.

Rockets need a point guard + Spanoulis is a top guard in Europe + Rockets own Spanoulis Rights + Spanoulis wants to play fo the Rockets (not the developmental league) = but why isn't Spanoulis on the Roster yet!!!!!!!! (Makes no sense to me)

I just think the Rockets are due to get a top talent from Europe. They've been trying for a very long time. The European Scout might have his job on the line with this one!

Sura / James -- is the point guard tandem right now.
Wesley / Barry / Head -- is the shooting guard tandems.

Are the Rockets waiting to do that 2 for 1 deal before signing Spanoulis?

    Spanoulis / James
(Via trade) / Barry / Head
    McGrady / Bowen
    Swift / Howard
    Yao / Mutumbo

    Could that be our team?

Have I missed something? Who's the 6th one year contract?

    1) 'Spoon
    2) Wesley
    3) Moochie (team option next year = one year deal)
    4) Baker
    5) Ward

That's 5 players. Bowen just signed a 2 year deal.

Could he have been referring to Yao? While Yao is in the last year of his rookie contract, he technically, has 2 years left.

    Was that a hint Doc?

May be the 2 for 1 means one of our 2 guards for a point or the othe way around. One of our points for a SG. :D

Mike James, who has a player option. It is assumed he will opt out and go to the highest bidder.

That's an assumption. The statement was that we 'have 6 one year contracts right now'.

Maybe, it was mis-interpreted, but that indicates we have 6 now, & by your assumption, the possibility of James being added later.

Mike James is on the record saying he will opt out and go for the big payday. He is the 6th man on a 1 year deal.

I think our current team is #2 in the West (assuming Deke comes back and Johnson leaves Phx). We have a darned good chance at a title, better than 25+ other teams--we certainly won't plan for 06-07 and not bother with 05-06.

Zacatecas, are you not reading carefully? Spanoulis is a prospect, not a proven player. With Deke we will have all 15 roster spots taken, including 4 guys unlikely to see much action (Mooch, Ward, Baler, Spoon) and another rookie who probably won't be ready as well (Head). If we do happen to waive 1 player (probably Spoon with the lux tax thing) or pull off a 2-1 trade that still opens up A SINGLE roster spot. We want a proven player (Van Exel? Demarr Johnson? Kittles?), or at least someone with NBA experience (Baxter, Glover), not another rookie who might might need to count on in some part of the season. Spanoulis and Badine will have a chance to make the team next year after 5-6 current roster space eaters are gone. Them in Europe is ideal right now, they develop their games and bodies while they don't take up our roster spots or salary.

2 or 3 years ago i would take nve's instant offense but now i'm not all that excited. he seems to have broken down and mike james is probably a better version of him.

i'd take croshere any time if it gave us tinsley.

i'm hoping the PG is tinsley, miller, Jwill, cassell. in that order.

tinsley actually makes sense for both teams. however we are not taking crochere back because that would not be a 2-for-1.

I don't see why denver would give us miller, even if he is on his way out.

I can see miami trading Jwill for ending contracts and starting a team of:

    shaq
    haslem
    walker
    posey
    wade.

I can't believe that Da Man broke Doc's riddle and few have noticed.

Good job Da Man, this strikes me too as exacty what the Doc was refering to. Looks like we are trying to pursue trade one or more of our SG (I assume Wesley is a given, possibly Sura is the other one).

Wesley being shopped shouldnt surprise anyone. We want to improve our PG position and Wesley is out best expiring contract. Wesley for Cassell makes sense too. Both are expiring deals which allows the Wolves to rid themselves of Cassell. Maybe the Wolves would be interested in Wesley since they dont know what's going to happen with Hoiberg and his heart surgery.

From the Rockets perspective moving Wesley for Cassell would be a no brainer. Plus, we can have an all FSU backcourt of Cassell and Sura. ;)

I wonder if the Wolves would be interested in a Wesley/2nd Rounder for Troy Hudson? I think Hudson would be a great fit, he's a good defender and shooter.

While common sense would indicate that Doc meant we'd be sending out 2 players & taking back 1, he didn't actually say that. It is a possibility that he meant we were going to get 2 players back & send 1 out.

His comments about Moochie & Ward could be an indicator that the team plans on buying them out, or releasing them out right, to free up a couple of roster spots.

I can't tell if Doc is being straight up, or talking in riddles anymore. It was more fun when he talked in riddles.

By the way, it was Doc Rocket that talked in riddles, not Oeilpere/Popeye.

I think the Wolves would jump all over a Wesley for Hudson deal straight up! The Wolves want to rid themselves of Hudson's contract. It is amazing to me the teams that jump all over signing guys like Hudson and Fisher and before the ink on the contract is even dry they are practically ready to rid the team of them. Hilarious! But that's the case with Hudson. They dont like his long term contract. They would take Wesley for him easily in my opinion. But as a Rockets fan, I dont think WE would make that move. Hudson is another combo guard that isnt really a PG. We need more of a pure PG. And I know Cassell is more of a scorer than a pure PG but I think Cassell is more of a pure PG than Hudson is.

I'd rather have Hassel than Hudson. He would fill a need of a defensive minded swingman off the bench. That would round out our lineup nicely.

Why not just try to get Wallace and Knight from Char. Char will have to fill its cap somehow.

Char doesnt have the same cap number to hit as other teams in the NBA.
