Even though I would not be surprised if an injury free Charlie Ward made some some valuable contributions, I wouldn't give up anything of value for Ward or Moochie. I am not surprised nobody else will either.
I think the Rockets have made up their mind that Barry & Deke will be back and Barry & Deke said they want to be back but the $$$ is not settled. I assume the rockets want to unload some salary first to make sure they don't pay too much Luxury Tax.
Hey Doc, I heard on ESPN 103.3 in Dallas that some Houston local radio station reported that NVE is going to sign w/ us. Is that true?
The doctor makes another House Call. Thanks as always Doc. Nice encryption this time. I don't get any of this
Was it Galloway that said it? Doesn't mean anything as he is ussually out of touch when he starts talking about Houston or HELL as he refers to us.
I think it must be Barry's too. Maybe they are still quibbling about a few hundred K. Kettle, black, nevermind. On other matters 500 Euros is less than 1 mil. Doc probably just misheard, it is still over the NBA min. Besides, it is best if Spanoulis comes next year anyway when we have open inactive roster spots. Reaffirms an LLE for NVE is risky, for the vet min 1 year deal is much better from the Rockets perspective, the league picks up that part of the contract above the 2 year league min and reduced lux tax load. I think the vet min is all we should offer him right now. Two for one deal would help, for sure. With a team under the cap as someone else posted he could get a TE and an open roster spot--but I am surprised Ward or Mooch would not be a candidate for this. I give Char maybe a 1st and the NY 2nd for GW signed at a reasonable contract and they take on two expiring contracts (Mooch/Spoon?). Than we take that open roster spot and sign Baxter. It we rounded out our roster with Deke, Wallace and Baxter that would be excellent.
I would like to say I missed him while he was gone, but, I didn't. I find the little ball of hate to be amusing at times
thanks for the info doc I don't know if we ever found out for sure but...http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=96717
She's pretty cool at times. Galloway needs to STFU at times. When the playoffs came around and he was in Houston, he was doggin badly. But it was redneck doggin...which made me lose respect for the old geezer.
This may have been said, but I was under the impression that the "Bobby deal" could be a trade in the works? As in one of the 2 for 1's.
A 2 for 1 with Doc's source stressing that we have 6 expiring deals and are activtely shopping Spoon? That would indicate the acquisition of a pretty high priced guard. I wonder who all could be had from teams in salary dump mode or players simply disgruntled. Jason Williams and Posey are already off the list.
Because? Because Riles dumped EJ for Toine and took those pieces? Probably you're right, but probably not definitely.
That is why someone like Wallace on an under the cap team is useful. (Someone else noted they may have to take on more salary for league purposes, expiring contracts work perfect) They can absorb our contracts and we get the lower priced player and a TE. It might be worth both our next years picks (NY 2nd, our 1st) to consider doing something like this (Wallace). Hart (good sized all around 1) for a 1st rounder to take on an expiring contract might be worth considering too. Could Wesley be heading back to Charlotte?
Desert Scar: I'll assume you are referring to Gerald Wallace. While his size, youth, and athleticism is enticing, I lump him in with Al Harrington and Desmond Mason who probably look better on our roster on paper than on the court. It is imperative that we add the right peices to fit around our "best frontcourt in the NBA." That means getting a guy in the backcourt who can atleast either shoot or make good decisions with the ball. Ball movement and outside shooting is what got the team rolling. BTW, are you Sir Scarvajal of clutchcity.com?
I can't think of any realistic 2-for-1 deals that make much sense. I would assume that 1 of the 2 players included in a 2-for-1-deal will be David Wesley. He just seems like the most logical choice, especially if they are not looking to move Mike James. I would also assume that a trade would be for a guard since our frontcourt is pretty much set. If Ward or Moochie are not being moved either, than the other player included in a 2-for-1 deal would have to be either Sura, Weatherspoon, Baker, or Juwan Howard. Wesley makes about $5 mil per year, so the salary of the player we will be receiving back (assuming it is a 2-for-1 deal) will have to be at least $9 mil a year. Most players out there making +$9 mil are either not being shopped or making far more than they're worth. I wonder if 2-for-1 means a literal 2-for-1 deal or if it just means 2 principle players for 1 principle player and filler.
