Isn't someone is presumed innocent before proven guilty?

I never said whether Yang Yi is telling truth or not. I was merely posting his article, just like I post other articles.

I am no particular fan of him. But I was certainly shocked by the animosity by a lot of posters here towards him. I am a Chinese, an ardent sports fan, having been following every sports news I could on Yao and the Rockets, English or Chinese, but I haven't found or suspected Yang Yi fabricating up stuff (or heard people disliking him), even I don't agree with his opnions sometime.

But I tried to be open-minded, so I kept asking those people to show me where he lied. No one has shown me anything, except attacking his writing style.

Maybe I was a little harsh on that particular poster, but I kinda sick of people bashing others without a good reason. I asked him/her again and agin to show me proofs, nothing! All I got just constant negativities to Yang. Yang isn't here to defend himself. I am in no way to defend him either. I just think when you bash someone, please at least show some facts.

In all fairness, people bash Chad Ford because he makes things up, right?

What has Yang Yi made up? No one has shown it to me yet.

Maybe BBarry ends up not signing with the Rox, you can call him Chad Ford of China.

The jury is still out on him, IMHO.

    You do read chinese, right?
    Come to

    http://hoopchina.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2
    http://forum.sports.sina.com.cn/cgi-bin/tree.cgi?gid=30&fid=574

or whatever a chinese bball forum you heard from anyone, you will find tons of evidence why he is far worser than Chad Ford, and why most chinese fans keep calling him Yang Faker Yi.

btw, I think Yang Yi is a genius at making up stories. He one day may become a good story-teller, but never a reporter.

The only thing worthwhile in Yang's article is Yao's direct quotes, and even the quality of those is slipping badly recently. I suspect Yao is starting to keep a distance from this guy. The other "juicy inside stuff" are likely to be conjecture plus a little widely known facts because sometimes Yang gets too detailed beyond what an NBA insider would normally disclose, without explanation of doing so. Such as he claimed his source told him 13 pgs contacted the Rockets for FA signings, and then breaks down said player's pros and cons. Earl Watson isn't proven starter blah blah blah...A real insider should not analyze FA's games and disclose dissatifactions over FA's cons. That does little else than burning the bridge. So I'm suspicous if it's just Yang's own conjecture, and if it is, Yang does not indicate so but rather he blend those things after what he claimed he heard. His personal opinions often get mixed up with the facts he got, deliberately and clearly. Although some finds his takes interesting but it's nothing different from articles on the hoopsworld. I defended Yang before because I found Yao's quotes in his articles interesting, and it's unlikely Yang dare to fabricate those quotes, but now Yang doesn't have quality Yao quotes anymore but the diplomatic drivle Yao would tell any reporter. Yet Yang is further destructing his relationship with Yao by twisting Yao's quotes to suit his purpose.

In a word, before it's taking it with a grain of salt for me, now I'm tired of Yang's unobjective style. Others may find his take interesting, but I do not think this guy is of high credibility.

I don't know if he has actually made up any thing but it seems that he has made a mistake when translating the article from Fanball that quotes the Rocky Mountain News. The original article states that Barry has "received" an offer and Yang Yi says he has "accepted". Everything is the same with the exception of those two words.

Edit: I'm sure it was a honest mistake.

Thanks. Maybe when I have the time.

But why is so hard to tell me one or two things he made up if he is so bad at it???

I simply don't see how he can keep making things up without Yao putting a stop to it.

I do observe an interesting phenomenon -- sports fans sure like to bash sports writers, either in the US or in China, with or without basis. Of course it is easy and fun to bash someone high up and he isn't fighting back at you.

Can you show me the "tons of evidence why he is far worser than Chad Ford" you are talking about? I just visted both forums and I didn't see any Yang Yi's posts on either forum. I do see some people bash him for making things up just like some people do here.

Then again, nobody proved what Yang said was wrong by facts. It seems to me a lot of guys there bash him just because they don't like what he said.

Ok, Yang Yi, in his latest news report, says he believes Yao dislikes T-mac.
In his report, Yao told JVG that he thinks T-mac's eyes look weird.
In his report, Yao keep dialing Steve's number but refused to give T-mac a phone call.
    http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2004-07-05/1023979290.shtml

Are you going to believe any of that since Yao himself at the same time said in his english official website he is "very excited to be playing with Tracy McGrady. He is one of the best, most exciting players in the NBA", also said in he chinese offical website that he "wish Steve good luck, except playing against us!"

Yao likes Francis, without a doubt. Yao will miss him and Yao has already set his mind to play with his new teammates. Yao is ready for the comeing season. He is ready to make some big noises with T-mac in the league. The truth is, it is Yang Yi who doesn't like this T-mac deal at all.

Maybe the same way Princess Diana didn't stop the media when they are making up stories and busy taking shots at her private parts.

Thanks. I just don't know what quote you are asking me to show you. The quotes Yao gave him before or the quotes Yao is giving him now. Let me take a guess and try to answer. Generally speaking, Yao's quotes from Yang before gave me an impression of more details and inside stuff, and now Yao's quote in Yang's article is more of the diplomatic line such as "well, we can only be sure how good it's gonna be once we play together." And Yang is using that kind of quote to imply Yao has suspicion over his tandem with T-Mac. Sorry, dude, there's a fine distinction between prudence and suspicion.

That is no concrete facts you've given here. Nothing wrong when you say T-Mac's eyes look weird, as long as you mean well, or not calling T-Mac. Yao probably is just concerned that T-Mac may not be a good teammate like Francis.

Actually I wouldn't believe Yao's website that much. It is called public relationship. Yao is always "political correct" in public.

I for one am not buying Yang Yi's words, but so far nothing he wrote has ticked me off yet. Call me naive, but I believe my own judgement. You naysayers haven't proved anything wrong with him.

    Let's see.

    1. I read the article but I failed see Yang said he thought Yao dislike TMAC.

    2. I remeber in one of Yang's article he did say Yao said TMac had weird eyes, but did Yao came out to say Yang made up those words? Not even on his own bbs. So I can't assume Yang lied.

    3. Yang said Yao kept calling Steve these few days but still waiting for TMac to call him. He also said maybe that suggests someting. But no such word as "refuse" has been used
theres. And again, neither Yao or T-Mac said they talked to each other. So I faild to see Yang Yi lied again.

Now I keep wondering is it Yang Yi making things up for Yao or other people making things up for Yang Yi?

I see what you mean. Yang Yi sometimes does give his own opinion based on Yao's quote. I guess that's why a lot people don't like his article. I certainly can understand that. But that doesn't mean he made things up. You can't say he changed Yao's quote based on that though.

Not like his article and style is one thing, saying he put words in Yao's mouth is another.

Listen, it's understandable why some people will get upset when others bash on Yang Yi. Maybe you like him, maybe you don't. One thing is for sure though, in our society, as long as someone is getting paid to write an article you have to take that into consideration. That is why we say take it with a grain of salt, because that is their job and they make money based on how many copies they sell.
I think that is probably why we respect what Clutch, Doc, and Popeye have to say because they have no ulterior motive. They are just Rocket fans trying to share some news.

It doesn't matter who it is, chad ford, marc stein, yang yi, or whoever....as long as they are making money based on how good their story is, you have to take what they say with a grain of salt.
