I want to say thank you for the posters that take there time to translate all this stuff for us.. its extremely fascinating and makes for a good read. I especially like the stuff about Yao in his first year under mean and the drama in the locker room. Everything you read you take with a grain of salt. Thats how life is.

Where have you heard this? That's a huge jump from last year. I hope you're right, because that would allow us to use the TE to acquire a better quality backup center.

If we sign him as a FA with the MLE, he only gets 10% annual raises. Only his current team resigning him will get him 12.5% annual raises.

The source the original sina article cite is actually from Rocky Mountain News which only indicated that Rockets offered a deal.

I appreciate hearing what the Chinese media has to say. I really do. But, I just think everyone should be at least a little dubious of Yang Yi based on what he has written previously. I'm glad to hear his insight because it is interesting, but it is a lot more like the National Enquirer than the Washington Post both in style and in substance. That requires skepticism.

hmm ... I live in the Washington DC area, and read the Post almost everyday, and sometimes I have a hard time distinguishing between the Washington Post and the National Enquirer ... ... but, I certainly agree with your point.

Well, Yang Yi has been writing Yao for mor than 2 years now. Can anybody give me some examples that he actually lied? Something he said may or may not be true, but I don't remember it was proven wrong.

In the meantime, guys like Vescey and Chad Ford has been proven wrong again and again, yet some people still belive them more than Yang Yi.

I remember one article where Ying Yang was allegedly in the locker room during halftime (nevermind that JVG probably doesn't allow outsiders in the locker room during halftime) and he said that either JVG or Yao cursed a blue streak at Francis for not passing him the ball.

Ying Yang has also insinuated that Francis and Yao were less than friends.

Ying Yang has writte about many things that Yao said about his teamates, that would normally be picked up by the US media because of their controversial nature. No other media source ever picked up on any of it. ZERO.

None of that was proven false though. JVG and Steve shouted at each other after one game was well known, I believe. Even Espn Insider reported it.
And I really don't remember he said Yao and Francis were less than friends after Yao's rookie year. In fact, he said Yao told him there is some chemistry going on between Yao and Steve.

Some insiders on Clutch bbs also wrote information that no meida had ever picked up, but in time they proved to be true. So I think no other media picked up on it can't prove it's false either.

    Second that.

I was almost shocked there was so much hate on this board towards Yang Yi. But no one could really offer evidence that he fabricated things.

It is almost popular among sports fans to bash sports writers.

Please don't talk anymore about this Yangyi. He is only a reporter and trying to sell his articles for a living. who knows what he is writing is true or false. There is the board about Houston Rockets. Who is yangyi? and who cares?

I have a problem with your attitude. This is a society we can talk whatever we want. Maybe you hate him so much, that is your problem. As we have seen in this thread, there are certainly people who like reading his articles because he certainly provides a lot of insights about Yao no other reporter can. So people do care.

If you can't show Yang Yi is a liar, just shut up.

Things must really be slow if there is a debate on this fellow. Ignor him if you choose, just leave it be. He's doing his job as he sees fit.

    Otherwise, show documented, documentable proof.

be careful with your attitude. Let people shut up isn't nice! maybe you are a big fan of yangyi (or you are himself). but most of yao's fans in China are hating him more and more. He is supposed to write professional basketball but what he is trying to show in his articles are only how close he is with Yao, what yao told him this and what yao told him that. Can you prove yao really said anything to him? I guess he thinks that the relationship between yao and him can help him sell his new magazine.
OK, I don't wanna talk about him anymore. If you are so much fond of him, that's your business!

The negativity on this issue is wack. Thanks for posting your information. People who think it's BS, well that's fine too, but don't get personal; please be tolerant of others.

That could EASILY be turned around to read...

"If you can't show Yang Yi is telling the truth, just shut up."

The truth is we just don't know how much is fact and how much is fiction. As a result, we cannot vouch for his credibility. It is particularly tough because he often writes things that border on opinion and are loaded with hearsay. I'm not saying he's always wrong. I'm just saying that because of who he is and how he reports things, his credibility should be called into question.

When he starts breaking stories and reporting things before anyone else does, then he will EARN the credibility some feel he already deserves.
