Owen Daniels? He had 2 catches. After his one catch opener. This is not to hate on him. He's still coming back from the injury. If anything, I think the offense can still get better because an awesome Dressen catch aside, we haven't utilized our TE's like we were early last year. Vonta only had 2 catches, also, for that matter. The best thing about the offense was Kevin Walter. Well...Andre is always the best thing about the offense, so just glossing over him, Kevin Walter had the biggest game. 11 catches on I think 11 throws to him. 144 yards. A touchdown. His game really somewhat forced the Redskins to single cover Andre a bit. Hopefully, Duane's 4 game respite won't be too much of a snag. Otherwise, by mid/end of season, the offense should be unstoppable. If everyone stays healthy, I think Owen will be back to form, Johnson/Walter will be as good a 1-2 combo as you have, and Foster should get you 70-110 yards a week. If health, avoiding further suspensions and defensive passing coverage fall the Texans way, this team can win a playoff game or two.
I am not saying Sean Payton is even remotely bad. But Payton does get cute a lot. Y'alls OC is all business and nothing cute. Knows when to run the ball, and how to run the ball. He knows when defenses are trying to mini scheme for a certain player and attacks them accordingly. How do you get Andre Johnson isolated 1-on-1 in the endzone when you need a td to tie. I'm still trying to figure it. Nothing short of amazing. I am not knocking my team, but when it comes down to getting the ball moved simple and gimmick free... I like him over Payton
The play with AJ getting open early was Philip Buchanons fault since it was his job to cover him until the safety got there but he released early leaving the Safety to get there late and be one on one with AJ. So don't think it was so much a play call as it was the great CB failing on coverage which is nothing new with Buchanon lol.
I don't give a good gosh darn for what team you root, dear sir and because it doesn't make a difference because we're our OWN team, but our team is AWESOME this year due to many factors, including TOUGH D and SHARP OFFENSE. And, thanks.
the reason Philip Buchanon didn't help cover Andre Johnson is because of the combo route being ran his way, they had 3 options on that play. Philip bit, and it left Andre 1 on 1... it had every thing to do with the playcalling. If it wasn't. Andre would of been doubled in the end zone. You don't just leave arguable the best wr in the game isolated 1 on 1. Not even a high school player would of did that.
The only thing I don't like so far is that he isn't calling screens. I'd like to see a few more screens to keep the defense honest when Schaub is getting pounded like happened against the skins.
He called a screen for foster on 3rd down that got us like 5 yards. But yea, I'd like to see them called more often as well. Can't really argue with the results we've been getting though.
