With OK, Portland, and GS losing, the Rockets made a leap upward. When you look at the big picture, it is entirely possible that they could go all the way to the top of the West. There are 18 games to go; this is a good time to go on a winning streak. We are only FIVE games out of the top spot. We are 3.5 out of the second seed. We need Faried back.
I don't know about catching Golden State. They'd have to sustain the kinds of injuries they had late last season when all their All-Stars got hurt simultaneously. The Rockets could go undefeated the rest of the way, and they'd still be longshots to catch the Warriors.
The best chance is for the Warriors to lose 5 of the next 7 to Denver, Houston, OKC, SA and Indy as the remaining schedule after the 7 games is a cakewalk for them. Highly improbable but there's still hope
Denvers remaining schedule is BRUTAL: Road games against: Lakers Wariors x2 Celtics Rockets Thunder Portland Utah Pacers Home against: Detroit San Antonio Portland Minnesota x2 Pacers They have "easy" games against the Knicks, Wizards x2 and Dallas. I could easily see them go 10 - 9 down the stretch.
Assuming that we end up finishing the season tied for 3rd with OKC and Portland and losing tiebreakers to both teams, would we be in 5th place or would we be guaranteed a top 4 seed due to having best record in our division?
The Rockets will be strongly favored in 8 of the next 9 games. If they can handle GSW, this could get to 16 straight. I am really liking their chance to get to #2 and have a shot at #1 if the warriors slip.
Rockets would be third seed because of winning the three team tiebreaker, in your scenario. they would win the tiebreaker because of winning the division, regardless of the individual matchups against each of the other two teams. the NBA no longer guarantees a division winner a top 4 seed
Reckless Keystrokes. For safety. Utah has also been favored in all their games, now until the end of the season, and they just lost one tonight.
We are not Utah. I am not afraid of jinxes because we have the holy artifact, the Wondrous Beard of Ultimate Skill to protect us.
They should win their home games but I think they are going to struggle to get those 10 wins. Its just like a boxer learning to go 15 rounds they start off good but as the rounds stack up they start to fade. I think its possible for Denver to drop to fourth
