Life doesn't work like that. It's just a little bit unfathomably more complex. "Imagine a universe that is exactly the same except one guy's life is totally different for two months, but that doesn't affect anyone else in the universe or on the team he's playing with. There would be all these good effects that I imagine, and no bad effects or anything unforeseen! I wish we lived in that universe I imagine."

If we had any different history than the one we've got, we could have more losses, a Rocket could be injured, Harden's streak could be broken; maybe we wouldn't have picked up Kenneth Faried. . . . There's just no way to know.

It goes to show you that an 82 game season is very long
And people jumping to conclusions in 20 games are dumb

Wait a minute, isn't the first tiebreaker in conference standings the head-to-head record? Hasn't OKC won 2 of 3 against us this year?

Hasn't Portland beat us at least once this year?

I just read somewhere that the first tiebreak goes to division winner.

    Thank you Mr Harden

A lot of people try to carry a team few can actually do it.

...so are we going to just ignore we are first in the division? (yes, I know it is meaningless)

Houston as division winner wins a three way

One of these two other teams beats the other one tomorrow and drops Houston to 4, but it’s good to know that if Rockets win their division it can help them in a three way tie breaker scenario (so it’s not meaningless)

Well the one downside is that because one of them is guaranteed to win, the Rockets will (temporarily) drop from 3rd to 4th. :)

But on a more serious note, the 2nd seed is absolutely doable. The Rockets only have to make up 3 games on the Nuggets if we assume they take care of business against Denver in Toyota Center on March 28. Meanwhile, the Nuggets also have 2 games remaining at Golden State plus games at OKC, Boston, Indiana, Portland, and Utah. Not to mention home games vs Indiana, San Antonio, and Portland.

Tilman might be too cheap to buy a division champion banner to put in the rafters.

He can just add 2018-19 to the existing banner. Assuming that's not out of his price range.

Depends if he opts for the premium thread or the standard ones that you can get at Hobby Lobby to sew on the lettering.

    Oh yea, Tilman is broke.

This thread is too premature. The way this year has gone, before we know it we'll lose to some trash teams and be right back at 5th. Need to keep the pedal to the metal!

Like I stated when I made the thread:

    Let's. Just. Enjoy. The. Moment.

People b****ed when we were second to last. Some even jumped off the ship/bandwagon. Now that we've clawed our way to being 3rd place, even for a day, people still have things to complain about?

Bottom line is we should be proud of this team and its resiliency through one of the worst starts in franchise history. Not to mention the fact that we have the best player on the planet right now.

Just enjoy the moment. Que sera sera, bro.
