or the rockets could be buying another second round pick. they seem to be in the habit of doing that.

I could see the Rockets picking:
    Jason Thompson
    CDR
    Brandon Rush
    Nathan Jawai
    Robin Lopez

If the Rockets actually do trade the 25 for the 31 & 34:
    Will Daniels
    Courtney Lee
    Bill Walker
    DJ White
    Devon Hardin

    No.

31 and 34 would have to be Lester Hudson (if he doesn't rise to the first round) and Lee or possibly Giddens.

I really hope we don't trade down using our 25th pick.

Can't we just buy the 2nd round picks of teams that have too many picks to take good use of with cash and future 2nd rounders?

Lets use our cash and future picks, and buy all the Sonics and the Timbrewolves non-lottery picks!!! and bench players if necessary

This is the time to throw in everything we've got!!! We must sacrifice the distant future for now!!!

I don't believe Morey is cheap enough to sell our first rounder for 2nd round picks...He knows it could deprive us of that Carl Landry we sorely need

I think Hibbert should be a real option. Yao hasnt played in 70 games since his 2nd season and Deke is old. The rox should think about Yao's replacement with his lower leg injuries. Hibbert has great size, soft hands amd a good player. He can spell Yao now for 18mins per and go from there.

Oddly enough, I agree. I would much prefer to make some moves to get a better pick or picks. However, Morey would tell you he got Carl Landry with a #31.

    18) Washington - Chase Budinger 6'7 215 SG Arizona So.
    19) Cleveland - Chris Douglas-Roberts 6'7 200 SG Memphis Jr.
    20) Denver - Russell Westbrook 6'3 185 PG UCLA So.

    The "sweet spot".

Well, in my ill informed opinion. The Rockets staff will know if one of the guys is the real deal.

Realistically though, what would it take to move up to Washington,Cleveland or Denver's picks? Do they have any motivation to do it (expiring contracts to make room to resign someone to a new contract next year?)

25 seems like it just misses the talent/cost break even point where you are just adding average players, not getting better; though I wouldn't be upset with Hibbert or Rush. I think they will both be competent players with multi-contract careers.

The guys that I have seen that I like that are projected around 25 are:

Mario Chalmers....Excellent 3 point shooting PG with okay ball skills. Decent size for PG.

Ty Lawson.....Great ball skills, but short. Will have a tough time getting shot off in NBA.

JJ Hickson....immature, but a beast of a PF. Should be able to rebound very well in NBA. Probably not going to be a shotblocker at NBA level. Would not be a good match when Yao is on the floor as he is a low block guy offensively. Would probably work well when Scola plays center. He is not a passer. Needs to play better on the ball defense. I think he'll make an excellent PF in the East and would be a good trade investment for trading deadline with an expiring contract if he doesn't work out.

Brandon Rush...reminds me of Battier offensively. Good three point shooter. Highly efficient player, but he differs if he has to take a difficult shot.
