I don't think you're watching hard enough. Best thing about sci-fi is how the science affects the characters and relationships. Name a Sci-fi show or movie void of 'Soap Opera' elements? If you can, it probably wasn't that good. Some things may be predictable (Fauxlivia's pregnancy) but stuff like this is unavoidable since everything has been done on TV. It's how you get there and what you do after that matters. Fringe has set these 2 universes on a collision course and Peter has to make a choice between the 2; having a baby on the other side is going to further complicate his choice. Fringe is all about the 'gray' in what was supposed to be Black and White. This last episode featured people who had muscular dystrophy that affected their legs. I'm no doctor but I think people with MD aren't paralyzed they just cant support their weight because of loss of/weak muscle tissue. So they could probably move in a weightless environment or can move very little weight like weighted boots. The last episode also highlighted the point that since the universe are coming together the laws of physics are unraveling. The serum the guy made was a mixture of 2 of the heaviest metals on earth. What he did was a miracle and shouldn't have happened, but did, because the 2 universes are coming together. Bell coming back I cant wrap my head around the science portion of that but Pete and Olivia were finally getting over the Fauxlivia debacle and Bell posses her. I mean come on, she can't be happy, ever? I don't know what to say to you this show is building to something big and you're done with it? There hasn't been one down episode. Each episode gives us something to advance the mythology of the show and the relationship of the characters. What more can you want?
I just watched 3 episodes, the ones thru the first ep it January...I forgot how awesome this show is...love it!
To all the Fringe fans its been renewed for a full 22 episode season! I was seriously worried that the show would be cancelled http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2011/03/24/its-official-fringe-renewed/86988
Happy it got renewed; this show is great. Last episode was just OK for me though. First time I've said that since season 1. Trov's Nimoy voice was pretty good and "Bellivia" hitting on Astrid was pretty hilarious. The plot was kinda boring and the way they introduced Lincoln Lee to our universe was pretty weak too. Eh well, I'm sure they will rebound.
Well, tvbythenumbers' prediction was wrong. Great. I also hope they are wrong about Human Target. Lie To Me is the only other Fox show I care about.
I finally caught up this weekend and yes, that was pretty cool...I agree, the last episode was alright, but most of the ones prior to that were really good...The faux Bell voice was kind of silly, but hey, its Tv... Still, the best show on tv...
I'm thinking back in the day it would not have survived, but with so many people having DVR's now it has survived. Best show on television by far.
