For those of you who watched the 4th quarter of Heat/Nets tonight, this is exactly why it's hard to put Chris Paul ahead of Wade. In crunch time, Wade is harder to stop than LeBron because he is so quick and his mid-range touch is inhuman. He is a freak of an athlete and a freaky shooter. If this 3-point shooting thing becomes a trend, he might move to #1. Just wow!

LeBron is the best. Hands down. I don't care if he hasn't won a ring yet. He's probably the single greatest pure talent the league has ever seen. He's absolutely unguardable.

I will say that LeBron and CP3 are the most valuable/indispensable/irreplaceable players in the league. If you took either one of those guys away for a playoff series neither team would win a game.

That having been said Kobe and Wade are still better than CP3, IMO. Again, value factor aside based on the whole package (talent, intangibles, track record) both of those guys are better than CP3 and only a shade behind LeBron. LeBron doesn't have the hardware or the clutch factor yet but he's simply too good to not rank #1.

    "Myyyy Faaayvve" [Charles Barkley voice]

    1. LeBron
    2. Kobe
    3. Wade
    4. CP3
    5. Duncan or Dirk

Wade has won a championship while Chris Paul hasn't. In the playoffs (including very deep into the playoffs), Wade has performed off the charts. Chris Paul choked like a dog and didn't want the ball when his team needed him most.

the best 3 players right now are kboe, bron, cp3. i wouldnt say kobe isnt the best player yesterday, i wont say it right now, dont think ill say it anytime soon, unless cp3 becomes a 3pt specialist.

but, cp3 is gonna tear this league into pieces and bits in his career. hornets better treat him good cuz hes rare as rare can be

Wade carried his team on his back to a title. Paul hasn't been past the 2nd round and let his team lose home court down the stretch last year and lose a 2nd round series despite strong leads (2-0, 3-2). Besides, Paul's teammates are much better.

IF Wade is back to form, which he looks, he is at a level higher than Paul (and an argument can be made over Lebron and Kobe for playoffs ball as well--though I certainly see a strong argument for Lebron too).

If Paul can at least get his very well rounded team to the Western finals, win or lose so long as he plays great and keeps it close, I'll listen to claims he is the best player.

if LeBron was called for only half of his travels on layups, he would be averaging under 20 points..

most overrated nicely treated player of all time.. basically the NBA needed a new face so they picked a 19 year old who can dunk and decided they're gonna make the game easier for him and turn him into the 2nd coming of the great one (MJ, in case you don't know) .. he gets every single call possible it's insane.. there's no way you can "stop" him, because, well, you'll get whistled for a foul. oh, and to make things better, it's kinda tough to stay with him since he's allowed 3 steps on every layup/"dunk" .. people tend to forget when Tmac used to own LeBron in 04-05, despite all the help from the refs that LeBron was gettin back then (and still is)..

I hate Kobe Bryant with a passion, but he's by far the best player in the league..

Wade, when healthy, is a distant second (Wade gets major assistance from the refs as well, but no one can deny this guy's clutchness)..

I haven't seen recent games of Steve Nash, but up until last year, he was the best player in the league (best as in most valuable to his team).. and I still maintain that he's better than CFlop3 ..

Some of this has to be because people hate Chris Paul. He could have easily won the MVP award last season and he's playing at a level this year that no other pg has ever. Yeah, he's better then Nash. When his career is finished, it won't even be close. It's ok to dislike him (he's not a likable guy unless he's on your team) but those are guys who typically win you games.

The last LBJ post was absurd. You can say the same for Kobe too. LBJ is a top 3 guy.

Kobe is showing me a lot this year (and he's always been a top guy). He's definitely top 3. I'd rank him #1 in terms of the best but I'd start my team with LBJ.

Dwight Howard and Amare are monsters. You can't go wrong with either.

Oh, Wade is also an elite player. He just plays a position where you can find a lot of very good to great players.

I'm ok with the mention of Duncan.. He's the best PF ever.

    Dirk?????? GTFO

Oh, and Wade is an elite player. He just plays a position where you wouldn't pick him to start a team IMO

I'd take CP3 or LeBron. The value of a superstar playmaker like these two can't be understated.

wade did not carry his team to a championship.

shaq got them to the finals and then wade dominated but you cant say he singlehandedly led them to the championship.

People keep making excuses about his injuries but for how long will he hide behind his injuries. Simple fact is that he is a good player on a bad squad and dominates the ball to pad up his stats while chris paul dominates the ball to dominate the game and createfor his team mates.

dwayne wade sorta reminds me of steve francis with all the athleticism, and also just like francis, i doubt wade is basketball smart enough to switch his game when he become too old to beat his man off the quick dribble or outrun/outjump him.

And for those screaming about cp3 having better team mates than lebron. are you freaking nuts. Before cp3, hornets were a joke, stojakovic was a has been, mo peterson an unreliable sidekick and david west = garbage. First season with cp3, and david west's scoring average increased from 6.2 to 17.1. Whatever success cp3 is having with new orleans, he made it himself with the help of byron scott.
Last season, they were always dismissed for not having enough star power and this year, and everyone said they would eventually come down to earth in the WEST. now when they didnt, all of a sudden, cp3 has excellent team mates.

Lebron on the other hand has the management staff waiting on him hands and foot, trying to get him good players and make him happy so he wont defect. just because some of the moves didnt pan out, doesnt mean he doesnt have good team mates, its just that he did not make them better in the EAST,

That being said, im taking kobe and lebron over cp3 anyday

Shaq was good pre-finals (terrible in the finals), but Wade was the guy.

Look at the history of championships since 1995. You will be hard pressed to find a championship where one guy meant as much, subjectively or statistically (production AND efficiency--just look at playoff stats by years), as Wade did to his team. His 2 year playoff stretch from 1994-1995 (if he doesn't get injured they probably go the the finals the previous year) was better against elite competition than any non-big other than Jordan (post Magic retiring).

Wade hasn't been as great for as sustained a time as Kobe or Lebron, but they have not done what he was able to do at his peak--which is carry a largely out manned squad to an NBA title (now Lebron at least carried an inferior squad to the finals). This is a fact. And remember Kobe had a better and younger Shaq 2 years prior in the playoffs and got handled by the same Detroit team that has had zero answers for Wade/Lebron.

BTW I am not sure Wade at his peak is still better than Lebron now. Lebron is the best player in the league, and I think it is getting less of a debate. Lebron needs a ring to cement it though.

Since you obviously were not impressed by his playoff MVP season, I guess it stands no surprise the fact Wade was the best player in the Olympics (or maybe co best with Lebron--meanwhile Kobe was shooting terrible %s) didn't lead you to think he is smart basketball wise and can adjust to schemes and style.

Further, your SF comparison is kinda nuts. He is more like a bigger more selective shooting Allen Iverson. Or a very poor mans Michael Jordan (noone has been good enough to be merely a poor mans Jordan). And guess what, these guys stayed pretty good pretty long, and found was to be good even without peak quickness and hops. Besides, Paul is no Nash or Stockton in BB mind, it is not like Paul's game isn't prefaced by athleticism advantages as well. Just like Wade, that isn't all he has (e.g., SF), but it is a major part.

David West has to be the most underrated PF in the league. Peja has been an effective 3rd cog on the 1st or 2nd best team in the league (Sac years). TC is one of your better defensive and rebounding bigs in the league. And Mo Pete and Posey are decent if they are your weakest link in your 5 man units. So Paul has an outstanding group around him, much better than Lebron or Wade.

Last I checked the EAST has the reigning champion and has won 2 of the last 3 titles, and 3 of the last 5. And Lebron got his team by far the closest to defeating the team that won it all last year--basically a basket or two from beating the Celts. Lebron's teams the last few years have either lost to the champion, or the Pistons (one of the most consistently outstanding teams over the last 5 years, and a champion themselves), in total dog fights.

haha, very blind arguement and by the way the most valuable player on the us Olympic team was not Wade. He was valuable ofcourse, but not the most valuable.

Lebron has better team mates than CP3. CP3 just happens to make his team mates better, take it or leave it.

Kobe is the best player in the NBA, not Lebron or Dwade
