Wher did you see these spoilers? I would like to go back and read them in hindsight. I enjoyed the last episode. I agree it was predictable but really that was the only way to go. I have enjoyed the last 4-5 episodes (especially the one with Shovelly Joe) but it has been about 2 years before that , that I have really enjoyed the show. I'll really mis some of the old Thursday Night traditions my wife and I had while we were dating. Thursdays were Papa Johns pizzas and watching Friends Seinfeld and ER. 2 are gone and one jumped the shark about 5 seasons ago (I mean Chicago must be the suckiest place to live with all the friggin natural disasters that happen on a weekly basis). On a side note, one of the local radio stations read some supposed spoilers that said one fo the characters died. Pretty lame and it had my wife guessing who, and how through most of the show.
Jesus, did they really bring back the duck and the chick? Thats the reason I stopped watching the show for awhile in Season 3.
The end of Must-See TV. Seriously. There is not one other sitcom now that holds my attention. That I make it a point to watch. Not one. I'm down to Law & Order and sports, I think.
Friends and Seinfeld were both great (#2 and #3 all time sitcoms for me, respectively) I have to give the edge to Friends...I have watched many sitcoms in my time, but NEVER one with 6 stars of equal billing and equal importance. The show had run its course for some time, but the chemistry between the 6 was and still is unparallel. Seinfeld was great in its own way, but they tried way to hard to be apathetic and "about nothing," which for the most part created some of the most hilarious situations in television history, but at other times came off to me as lame. Im willing to bet that the majority of you clowns who are doggin' on Friends havent even watched more than a handful of episodes. Hell, I used to be a Friends basher until an ex-girlfriend turned me on to it. Im definitely sad to see it go....its truly the END OF AN ERA... Joey's show will definitely be lame, but ill tune in from time to time to check out Adriana. (My #1 all time sitcom is Three's Company...if there was ever any doubt.)
The ending WAS in fact lame. I hate happy endings. They're too damn predictable. I was hoping that in the "Joey" show, we would find out that Ross moved to Paris to be with her. That would have been a cooler "ending" to the show.
seriously...no happy ending??? for a sitcom??? this isn't some dramatic presentation..it's a light, funny show. i have no problem with a happy ending for a show like that. it's consistent with the show itself.
I don't know... I just don't like when things end up so nice, neat and tidy. Maybe because I can't relate in my real life... just like most others can't as well
isn't that why we watch sitcoms?? there's resolution in 30 mintues every night. and it's funny. and light-hearted. we have enough stillborn babies on episodes of ER...Law & Order...etc.
The ending was lame, but not because it was happy. It would have been better if ross had went with rachel to paris, but not during the joey show. Personally, i dont expect or even want sitcoms to emulate real life. If i did, id watch Reality TV, though that is usually faker and more far fetched than a sitcom.
My favorite episode of friends is when they are all in the coffee shop talking and goofing around. My second favorite one ever is the one where they are all in the apartment talking and goofing around.
no kidding...it's not Twin Peaks for cyrin' out loud! Of course it was going to be a happy ending. Anyway, now I'm just left with Scrubs, Everybody Loves Raymond, and 24. Thank goodness for HBO!
Seinfeld was off the hook b/c it was about stuff that happens everyday yet we don't really think about it and when we saw it on the show we could relate it to it, that's why I love that show. Friends was really good at first but it turned into a SOAP opera, they should have just moved it to the afternoon. Married with Children is my second favorite show after seinfeld. That show was hilarious.
Yeah, Friends may be the most unrealistic sitcom ever, but I still enjoyed it. For instance, what happened to Rachel's baby? Amazing how having a child didn't seem to change her routine in the least. Plus, where was the baby the entire last episode?
Just because a particular story line lasts for longer than an episode does not make the show a soap opera. One of the great things about Friends was that though parts of the story line was recurring, the major plots for each episode were unique. Seinfeld was easy to relate to? How many times in any given day have you had so many coincidental things happen to you like in Seinfeld? The show was all about coincidental situations happening all of the time. Did that make the show funny? Yes. Did that make it relative to real life? Not for me.
Thought there had to be some explanation. Still doesn't explain how she can spend hours on end in the coffee shop
Amen. They continue to churn out shows like "The Restraunt" and all that other crap...I'd rather watch Friends for 24 hours straight than watch that. Some of you don't like the show because it is "unrealistic" and they act stupid...well, that is why it is not REALITY TV. It's supposed to be entertaining. I can't figure out why this show has such a love-hate audience. Either people love it, or absolutely despise it.
