It sure is nice to see Carlos Vela playing again. We can only imagine what we could have done in the World Cup had he played.
Great game, I like how they played. Too bad Carlos Vela rejected playing for Mexico during the world cup. Here at the highlights of the game: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/dpKnYj4svkk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Hiddink says that if we don't win on Sunday, he'll resign. Crazy amounts of pressure on the team, the whole positive feeling from the world cup seems to be gone - basically, the feeling is that we've been 'found out', as if the whole world cup was an illusion. ATW, maybe van Gaal is a genius after all?
Sometimes we play in Europe... I almost never hear of the U.S. and A. playing in... of all places... the mother country?!?!?
Rockets always do well in Mexico.... Mexico might do well in other places or just own a team like the Netherlands Sometimes it is the opponent
Wow I totally missed the game (hat is what you get with a new born in the house). Van Gaal is a brilliant coach, But so is/was Hiddink. I do not understand why they are playing this badly. I agree that our team was not as good as we seemed at the World cup, but we are not as bad as we seem to be now.
I guess if that is onside, I don't know what offside is. Ball is passed to a guy's feet who is at least 5 yds off. Steps towards the ball but doesnt play it. Another runs on and scores. The offside player is clearly involved in the play. It was off the moment it was passed to him. Not touching the ball doesn't mean you weren't part of the play.
I jinxed that one. Within one minute of turning it on the Goal for Columbia. Unfortunately, I'll be tuning in to the Rockets tonight too!
LOL! It depends on the actions of the player 5 yards off. It is at the discretion of the referee to decide if he calls the offside, even if the linesman has the flag up or down. Is that how Colombia scored? Didn't see the game. Highlights, anyone?
Nope. No involvement on the play even when he was in an offside position. Good decision by the referee to not whistle that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2uPvJRdgSE
Clearly offside, he takes steps towards the ball - but the refs make mistake, better to happen in a friendly. DD
In that situation ref has to decide wether the player indirectly interfered and confused the goalkeeper. Here I'd say yes, he did confuse the keeper and also stood in the way, which resulted in the goal.
Highlights: <iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/b2uPvJRdgSE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The keeper and the defenders MUST defend ALL at all times. Here it is very close, but I'll add another point to support why the ref didn't call it: In the spirit of THE GAME, a game stays competitive if both offense and defense want to play, and continue to play until the whistle blows. The goalkeeper should know to defend ALL, even the attacker who is in an offside position. Even Twellman recognizes Teo didn't participate. Y'all don't agree? What about the handball that wasn't called on Jermaine Jones? That would have given Colombia a chance to make it 2-1 BEFORE the Colombian score off the close call that wasn't offside.
