Also had fresh endless homemade rolls and at one time had their on beehives for honey in Pasadena and Galveston.
Anyone ever been to Bess Bistro on 6th in Austin? It's one of the places here owned by Sandy Bullock. While it's not cheap, the food is terrific, with some different takes on some old "tried and true" dishes. An example? Bacon wrapped meatloaf. Yes, it might sound a bit strange, but it's delicious. It's a special every Monday. Another special that I haven't tried, mainly because I can't decide if I'm willing to spring this much for it? Buttermilk fried chicken on Thursday. Why can't I make up my mind about trying it? $21 bucks, that's why. The meatloaf was $14, and worth every penny, but $21 for fried chicken sort of flips me out. If I ever decide I can't stand not knowing what it tastes like (being influenced by the amazing meat loaf), I'll find this thread and post about the experience. BTW, it's a great place to take a date. Just make reservations, because it's extremely popular. Probably don't need them for lunch, but it's still very busy.
