Or, you know, maybe we should give them credit for being a good football team. But hey, whatever helps you sleep at night.
as great as reggie bush was in the 3 1/2 quarters i watched before i fell asleep in the 4th, ivan maisel and all those peole over at espn just completely forgot about what type of season vince young has had. reggie put up 500+ yards of total offense against Fresno, well do did Vince on the road against Ok. State. i just hate how everyone hops on the USC bandwagon and forgets about other teams and players that don't play for the trojans. and if USC can't play better defense than what they've shown all year, texas is going put 50+ on them, and i'm thinking with their defense that is actually very good, UT wins and it's not going to be close.
actually, i think he's trying to say they might not be as good as you think. oh, and Baylor hung up 40+ points yesterday!!!!
fresno is a good football team, but they shouldn't be giving USC a heart attack at home.....USC isn't as great as people think. they are going to have to find a whole new defense if they want to beat texas, and that ain't happenin.
The other thing that I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is coaching. Who would you rather have preparing your team for a month leading up to the Rose Bowl: Pete Carroll (two straight titles) or Mack Brown (no conference titles ever)
Pete Carroll is r****ded. Every time they show him on the sidline I half expect to see him eating paste and making finger paintings. He was a joke in the NFL and if not for incredible recruiting classes he'd be a joke in the NCAA too. If Fresno dropped 42 on them, I don't think USC will be beating UT. No matter how much Carroll mugs it up on the sidelines.
Let me just clarify my position on USC-Texas. I think there exists a very good chance that Texas will beat USC; however, I don't think it will be by 18 points or more. If anything it will be very close - you can't get wrapped up in things like "well USC only beat Fresno State by 8 at home" and had to come from behind against such and such U. Some teams match up better against certain opponents than others. Hell, if you want to use scores against common opponents as a basis, Miami should have beaten Georgia Tech by 61 last night since Virginia Tech beat Ga Tech 51-7. And we all know that Miami was able to do that last night, right?
I think having a month to prepare makes it easier. One can make the argument that there'd be a preference between the two if there was only a week to prepare, but Carroll's not so vastly superior to Brown that a month to prepare is going to make the difference.
While I expect the Trojans to play much better come the NC game, their defense is something really Carroll should be worrying about. If they gave up 42 points at home to Fresno State, not sure how they are going to stop the top scoring team in the NCAA (even though the Bulldogs are #5 in scoring themselves).
If they did, I would have a MRI ready for them. Texas should beat USC, but from what I have seen of Reggie Bush, I wouldn't bet on it. In all, the national championship should be exciting!
Congrats Reggie Bush you just won the Heisman. That may have been the most insane game I've ever seen by a running back. Reggie Bush reminds me alot of Mike Vick when he was in college. He's a threat to score everytime he touches the ball. I watch every Falcon game that comes on because of Vick and a year from now I plan on watching every Bush game that comes on assuming he goes pro. These guys are just a treat to watch.
No defense has been able to stop White, Bush, and Linehart so far. Each three can change entire games.
If Mack - I tend to blow big games at times - Brown were not the coach @ UT, I would really like their chances of beating USC. BTW, I am not at all a USC fan, but a fan of their opponent on any given week. Geaux Tigers
