WOW!! i can't believe the bulldogs came back from that onslaught to start the half. what a game to watch. i think bush should finish 2nd behind VY and is slobbered over a little too much but damn he's amazing. if he doesn't get hit in the backfield, i just expect him to take it all the way every time. his cuts and speed are just out of this world. and i know they put up a great fight and he had a good first half, but pinegar just had some terrible turnovers. the pick when they were backed up, the damn INT on the goalline, and then a fumble and INT at the end. the fumble was horrible. there was a blitz and the line did a good job of picking it up and then he just held the ball forever. the last INT was horrible, too. you've got 1:37 at the 25 and he forces it into double coverage even though they had moved it with short passes all game. just a terrible way to end the game when anything else would've been better. but i guess that's why he's pinegar and not a star. and can we get these announcers to do every game in college football. they were as entertaining a duo as i can remember. like i said, the color guy would just say anything. "fresno state is like madonna. every time you think they're gone, they put out an album and someone buys it." great chemistry as well. what a game. and if az st, az, nd, and fresno can play with UT there should be no way usc oklahoma's us and beats us in a blowout. after michigan put up 37 on us last year, i'm a little wary of facing usc and expecting us to hold them to any less than 35, but after watching usc's D and our O, they shouldn't be able to hold us under 35 either. should be a shootout, and i'd love it to be a highlight filled game for the ages that we win on our last drive. and man usc's special teams suck as much as everyone's been saying. they give up returns, they can't punt, their kicker isn't that good, and they don't get any big returns either. just abysmal. hopefully it stays that way.
UT is the best team in College football, by a WIDE margin.... If USC and UT play in the Rose bowl...UT is will win by 18 or more points. DD
This was a classic trap game on USC's schedule in gambling speak (the game sandwiched between two rivalry games -- Cal and UCLA). The slim margin of victory doesn't surprise me whatsoever. Then again, I am an expert and very very smart.
USC's defense ain't what it was last season. Not by a large stretch. UT is gonna hang points on them, big time. The question will be how much UT's defense can slow down USC. USC is going to have to outscore Texas to win...because they're not gonna slow down VY and Co.
No they aren't, and no they won't. Reminds me a lot of last year when the "soft" 'SC team was going up against Oklahoma. No chance they would win that one... Trojans by 21
As much as I dislike USC and would love to see what you are predicting to happen, there is no way that will actually happen (UT beating USC by 18 or more points).
Texas must play a flawless game to beat USC. Vince Young is a dynamic player but he always makes at least 1 bonehead play in every game. If he throws interceptions or fumbles, Texas will not win. The USC offense is one of the best ever in college football and our defense has had problems with fast backs running outside. Bush will probably go for 200 yards. Texas must control the clock and score on almost every position and try to limit USC to FG's.
Totally agree. What's going to make the Rose Bowl interesting is that both teams make plays when they have to. Going back to the middle of last year when Texas started its run, both teams have had some sloppy games (Kansas, OSU twice, etc) and some tough, close games (Michigan, Ohio State). But the one thing about both teams is their offenses have always made critical plays when need be, whether it be 4th and 18 vs. Kansas or 4th and 9 vs. Notre Dame. My question will be whether either team can stop the other late in the game. A month of planning always changes things, but its up in the air whether it will help the offenses or defenses.
As for Bush, if he wins the Heisman, I can't complain. He's come up huge in USC's toughest games (Fresno State, Notre Dame). Vince has as well, and I think either one of them would be legit winners, but I couldn't argue if Bush gets it.
I'm sure USC fans were LOLing and thinking the same thing when Oklahoma State was leading UT at halftime. Gotta hand it to Fresno, their only two losses have come against Top 10 Oregon (lost by 3) and No. 1 USC (lost by 8).. both one score games.. BCS what?
different year. different team. last year's USC defensive unit was superior to this year's defensive unit.
USC 499 yards, FSU 426 yards USC 2 turnovers, FSU 5 turnovers The highest ranked team FSU has beat is #47 Toledo and they have 5 wins against #100 or worse opponents. If they can hang with USC then UT shouldn't have a problem.
Don't forget every offense/defense scheme is different. AJ Hawk and crew basically shut down the Vince Young Offense. That isn't to say the Buckeyes' combined craptacular offensive play and the 'Horns defense would've lead to an Ohio State victory. Tressel ball lost that game for us, and - at the same time - kept us in it. Such a shame. Go Bucks! tOSU 25 scUM 21
I'll take USC and 18 - meaning that Texas has to win by at least 18 for Dakota to win. But let's first wait to see if that matchup does materialize (which it should but you never know).
