Why not? National titles in football have always been determined by the polls - the BCS hasn't changed that. All the BCS does is give the top two teams an opportunity to play, and require the coaches to vote for the winner as the #1 team in their final poll. But it's the poll, not the game, that determines the champion. Many teams throughout history (including UT) claim national titles in which they only led one of the polls. USC has every right to call themselves champions 2 years ago, as does LSU. Until there's a playoff, the final polls will always be the determiner of titles.
I've always wondered this, and I guess now's the time to ask: What are those V's on Fresno State's helmet?
I wasn't high on drafting this guy, but man there won't be another running back like this for a while. He's a Brian Westbrook with some size and strength and occasionally he'll pull of some barry sanders-esque moves. I'm starting to second guess myself.
USC is such a second half team it's not even funny. They use White to pound you down and set up the throw, then they unleash Bush on your tired defense. No contest. UT v USC is gonna be ****ing amazing.
Ha...I had always wondered that and I finally looked it up on the web tonight. It's honestly one of the most disappointing things I've ever learned. http://gobulldogs.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/082801aaa.html
I want USC to lose so UT can be #1. Duh. Besides, what makes you think if USC lost this game that they WOULDN'T still play in the national championship game? Talk about the best of both worlds, eh?
If Fresno State somehow wins this game, they might have a legit claim to be #2. They'd have the best win (vs. #1) and the best loss (3 pt loss on the road to top-10 Oregon). LSU has a loss to an unranked, terrible Tennessee team. Penn State has a loss to an unranked, mediocre Michigan team. VaTech has a blow out loss at home by a top-10 Miami team. Oregon has a blow out loss at home to USC. The rest of their schedule isn't tough enough, but they've also blown out everyone else they played. Not that they'd ever make it even to the top 5, but I'd be curious to see how high they'd climb.
GO USC!!!! I'd love to see this upset. But it'll move Fresno up the rankings. I don't want that. ---TCU
