I loved the Cosby Show before the Cosby stuff happened recently, but once I start seeing all those crazy-color shirts and sweaters, I know I'm not on earth anymore. The one exception would be the greatness that is the Gordon Gartrelle shirt.
Will Smith also had a movie where he and his son go back to earth to find they were invaded by CGI monsters That nobody watched
Ok well you can bet that the fresh prince reboot will succeed and I’m going to bet nobody will watch it Are they going to reboot Gilligan’s island and make it a drama where somebody dies each week on a island ? @Jontro
A race swapped Wonder Years and a reboot of the Fresh Prince as a drama, why not just use different names and characters then let the writing and acting dictate the success of the shows? This is lazy. I will watch the Wonder Years just out of morbid curiosity but I don't expect it or fresh prince to last very long. I would've loved to see Fresh Prince get turned on its head and see a Carlton type character have to leave the lap of luxury and go live with his less that affluent relatives in a Philly or Detroit, somewhere bummy and see how he adjusts to not having everything. Also, instead of doing a race swap wonder years, why not the story of the one of the black families in the neighborhood or down the street from the Arnolds, they could even interact with the Arnolds for posterity. Hollywood is so ****ing lazy. A race swapped Perfect Strangers would be a hit imo, as long as the cousin isn't directly from Africa. Maybe Greece or some other place with weird food and thick accents but if the cousin is directly from Africa it would be too similar to Coming to America and we saw how that series went
carlton did go to jail for DWB. also, SNL already did a reboot a few years ago. who could forget the princess and the homeboy.
#1 The appeal of the original was Smith's charisma. #2 The show writing also had good jokes (by that era's standard). #3 the show was fresh (pun intended), there weren't too many shows like it during that time that was on a major network. It's possible for NBC to achieve #1 and #2, but #3 is not as unique. The name will carry initial interest but can it maintain. Full House did good numbers but that was original cast. Peacock needs content. Wants to up their sub number. Will Smith doesn't need the money, but he'll get paid handsomely. The reboot seemed divisive based on response here.
What about the episode when they go to the Playboy Mansion?? Not in this whack ass me too , fat people, dude looks like a lady era @Jontro @Ziggy @Xerobull
the reboot should be breaking bad style - carlton has to move to philly and fresh prince is always clowning on him like in the original series...but in the reboot carlton ends up befriending all fresh princes gangsta friends, who take to carlton after he teaches them about business management. they get him to manage the finances of the gang and get their money laundered and invested. then he takes it over and starts brutally murdering all his rivals...and meanwhile fresh prince is oblivious, makes fun of him all the time and thinks he is still his nerdy, privileged cousin.
