Absolutely, but that does not mean they are the only bigots in town. No one has a monopoly on bigotry, if that is what you are suggesting. There is plenty to go around.
Poor, poor move by the French government. If the people of France support this then they missed the point of free speech/expression.
Religion? Don't know a religion that preaches killing and have sex with little kids. More like a cult and fairy tales written by men. Yes, only idiotic extremist will start rioting and show their true color.
Fair enough. I don't really think the French are bigots, they just have a strong national identity. We're lucky in the US that immigrants meld into mainstream society so quickly and willingly.
I also don't think the French as a whole are, although their cultural values and emphasis on secularism makes them a far different culture than ours. It is much easier to mold one's self into American society, which champions certain freedoms in a way the French don't. America is a true melting pot of cultures, and our collective religion is working really hard and making tons of money (also known as capitalism), which is what most immigrants come here for anyways
Oh please enlighten me. Only close minded idiots would believe Muhammad is some kind of special dude with words from God. Talking about being brainwash into believing some primitive fairy tales.
Dude, just go back to www.answering-islam.org and chill there. We've read that website too, we don't need you to duplicate their falsified evidence. Clearly you have no interest in accepting other info, so why even discuss this? If you just want to throw around insults, just follow whatever set of morals/ethics you follow and try to show a little respect for this board.
I'm not a Muslim, but what little of Islam I have been able to study about shows me that your information about it, is inaccurate. Whether I believe Mohammed is a prophet or not, or whether you do, doesn't make it less of a religion. It may not be the religion you choose to follow, but it doesn't mean it isn't a religion at all. The fact that you have basic misunderstandings about what Islam even is, doesn't really help anyone take your points seriously.
I generally do not like the direction this law is headed, but I do support the idea that no one should be forced to wear anything. (insert pants joke here)
This move is pretty ridiculous, I work with a couple of the nicest woman I have ever meet at UH that use veils for their head (not covering their face) for religious purposes and I don't understand how people can equal that as a possible threat. If the French citizenry wants to vote that in for their country then that is their prerogative - but if the "free" west stops living by those ideals we fall right into their trap.
What's the matter? The truth hurts? It's about time that countries and people should stand up against a primitive laws and religious that is call Islam. Why the hell should I accept Islam? Oh yeah, Islam is so peaceful. Lets kill anyone that draw a cartoony Muhammad or disgrace their precious Quran. Lets created laws to oppressed women and brainwashed them at an early age so that they don't understand the meaning of freedom. Lets kill our children if they dishonor us. Yeah, let embraced Islam and let them make the law. Let them take away our freedom and live in fear for the rest of our lives.
So after I got my initial little provocative post in: I'm on the fence regarding this law, it's a borderline case. On the one hand it is meant to protect those women who are forced to wear this nonsense like the veil and the burkha (also known as mobile jail), on the other hand some women might actually be brainwashed enough to think they are deciding freely to wear this stuff. It definitely does not help integration at all when women wear this stuff. But in general, it's a problematic law because while the idea is to protect women from symbols of oppression and to further integration, on the other hand it could be seen as a restriction of freedom of religion. Tricky one. I still say good move by France, because when you look at the big picture, the ones who wear this stuff and their families have generally shown to have little to no interest in integrating into the society of the country they have chosen to live in, on the contrary, they want to force their ways upon everyone. I see little benefit in making that easier for them. Now the Muslim posters and the leftist wingnuts and the defenders of freedom of religion can start the bigot posts.
