I don't know...can't tell from what happened. Seems like overzealous behavior, but one can't say if there is an extremist background.
Background? Every background starts somewhere. Do you find it to be anything other than extreme behavior to rip a veil off a woman's face who wants to keep the veil on?
You failed to mention that they are actually the Prophet's grandchildren I was under the impression that there were around 124,000 prophets And you're completely right about the bolded text. Bilal is a prime example of this. He is an African slave (emancipated) chosen by Prophet Mohammed to read the adhan. He is considered to be one of his greatest companions.
1) That's actually what I meant, that they are his grandchildren . 2) You're absolutely correct: Hundreds of thousands of prophets mentioned in Hadith. 25 mentioned in the Quran. And also out of those Prophets, 12 are Messengers according to the Quran. Thanks for pointing that out!
Another point in that article that has been looked over is that it states the velied woman is a Muslim CONVERT. She chose to become a Muslim and wear a burqa, she is not oppressed. Just FYI in case some people think the majority of women that wear hijab/burqa are forced to by husbands.
I think it would be awesome if each nation could just cleanse itself of those freaks who refuse to assimilate into the mainstream culture, religion and traditions of the majority population. If we can just have the world's borders redrawn to reflect real ethno-linguistic divides, it would be a much better world to live in. Racial and cultural purity is the only way to go!
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/39177318/?GT1=43001 There was a bomb threat at the Eiffel Tower tonight. A bomb has not been found yet. Some people are speculating it had to do with France passing the law banning face veils today. They had to evacuate 2000 people. Scary because my parents and sister live a few blocks away from there. Who knows if this will be the last attempt? It's scaring the crap out of me thinking that my sister or parents might be riding the metro in Paris or just walking around and something happens to them.
Bomb scares are frequent in Paris, and the city has experienced terrorism firsthand. Algerian Islamic insurgents bombed the Saint-Michel station on July 25, 1995, killing eight people and injuring 150. I had forgotten about that one.
If there wasn't actually a bomb, does it count as an "attempt"? I mean, it wasn't really an attempted bombing, but rather a successful hoax, right?
this is my personal experience. I was born and raised a Muslim. Any female I knew that wore a hijab would tell me that it is their choice.... It is their choice because it is the word of god. Pretty much they were being brain washed. I find it a double standard that males do not have to cover their faces. In reality men pay more attention to the female body while a female in general likes a handsome face.
I was joking about the feel much better now, btw. When you take away people's rights, especially targeting a specific group, and in this case, Muslims, there is going to be some backlash from extremists. If something like this happened to Christians, there would be some Christian extremists that would retaliate. I think today's threat, although it may have been a false alarm, is only the beginning of people reacting to the ban on burkas. I saw one interview of a French Muslim woman who said she had been wearing a burka for 16 years and she did not want this ban. I liked that she said something like "people can like me for me, not by the way I look".
The aren't banning hijab only the burka. I am pretty sure it doesn't say any where in the quran that women have to wear burkas. People who lived under mao were told to believe the west sucks and their life was great even if they got no food and were on the brink of starvation.
I'm pro assimilation when it comes to immigrants moving to another country. Having pockets of disenfranchised and illiterate 2nd gen immigrants is much worse.
