It's not really a rule change, but it's funny that the league decided to push enforcement of it after our switch-everything defense came within a whisker of knocking off the Golden Boys Warriors last year. Coincidence? Nah.
Freedom of Movement is just Anti-Defense. Tell me exactly how you're supposed to stop someone from scoring without blocking the shot now? The answer is you can't. You just hope your hand in the face is enough.
I don't think this freedom of movement stuff has impacted the game much. I think what has impacted the game is the entire league waking up and realizing that you need to follow what Golden State and Houston are doing if you want to have a shot at a ring
