The two that are closest to where I live and where I work are: Hancock Center (HEB Shopping center) 41st @ SB IH35 Congress @ Riverside (P.S. I've been saying this for years. It's about time you all listened to me )
Man smoke Mission and smoke Chipotle... Neither of them got the goods on Freebirds. Freebirds is hands down the greatest burrito in the land!
I like Freebirds food, but what's with the ordering system? You tell them what you want, then follow the same person along the line..........giving directions through other customers. It's a big cluster @#$@. On top of that, you've got 20 people working behind the counter, taking each individual customer through the building process. It's called an assembly line for a reason people. Chipotle is better IMHO but only slightly. I like the rice, the beef, and ordering is not like placing a stock purchase in the pit on Wall Street.
On a scale of 37-84 where 84 is best and 37 is not: Chipotle: 81 Freebirds: 74 Baja Fresh: 40 Mission: never been Qdajabodahog: never heard of.
For all of you saying that Chipotle is good... They don't even have Jalapenos. It is a freaking burrito place in TEXAS and they don't offer jalapenos!?! Case closed. They suck.
I wish Houston had a Raging Burrito (from Atlanta). It is not fast-food style where they make it in front of you and the burritos are very far from traditional (although they do have a "build your own" section) but that place is the best. Here I would rather just make my own.
I actually like it, rice with lime and cilantro, that's good eats. The problem though is finding a chipotle where they cook it right.
Best burrito place downtown is Bouray's Mexican and Vietnamese food. Yeah, I know....it's weird. Cajun name, with no Cajun food, and you can get a giant burrito, or bowl of pho. It's the platypus of restaurants. But Bouray's is only place in town (that I know of) where you can get a SHRIMP giant burrito (or beef/chicken fajita). But they're quality is not as good as Freebirds.
