The only thing edible at chipotle is a veggie burrito bowl. They use fatty dark meat chicken, and the beef isn't much better.
I was just about to make a thread about this. Last night I was in College Station and it was the first time I tried it. After the first bite, I knew it was better than anything Chipotle had to offer. Everything from the tortillas to the toppings are >>>> Chipotle. I need to find one in Austin.
There's a bunch of Freebird's locations in Austin. The chicken at Freebird's is kinda bland, but the steak is tremendous. They don't skip on the rice, beans, and cheese the way they've been doing at Chipotle. Both places are great, so you can't go wrong either way.
I like Freebird's steak burrito with BBQ sauce. So good I prefer Mission Burrito if I want it with sour cream/salsa/pico
super monster is about the length of a teenage girls arm. I once saw a man finish it. I was impressed.
mission burrito beats any other place in town!! Wednesdays, starting at 3, a student can get a whole meal for $5 and they have a bigger/diverse menu than freebirds and definitely chipotle. But I can never finish a whole burrito at any one of those places
Up north we have Chipotle, Qdoba, and Baja Fresh. Chipotle wins in a landslide. It's approximately 3 times better than Baja Fresh, and two times better than Qdoba.
I can finish 2 California Burritos from Arandas (only did it once). I need to try one of these $13 burritos. Where is Mission and Freebird's located?
I had Freebirds for the first here in a Houston a little while back. It was pretty impressive. I think better than Chipotle, but I still do like Chipotle.
I've had both... and they both suck. Seriously! Find everything in the kitchen and slop it on a tortilla and eat. There's got to be a better way!
First off they need to bring back Atomic Burrito that was over at Richmond/Weslayn back in 2000, which is now closed and opened a Chipotle in it's place and I don't think they have another location. As between Chipotle or Freebirds? I like Chipotle's burritos better, because I guess its more "traditional". Freebirds is good too, but its too americanized. Freebirds' Nacho are literally to die for, I always get those suckers everytime I go. Mission Burrito I thought was ok. I do like that you can get shrimp as one of the meats in which at Chipotle/Freebirds does not offer. The California burrito is awesome at Taqauria Arandas, in which will stuff the hell out of you. For $7-8 its well worth it for a ****** burrito.
Well, I was at Mission Burrito today and was really miffed at the guy in front of me in line. Mission, like Chipotle and Freebirds, allows you to view your burrito as it is being assembled. For sanitation purposes, a large spit shield/window is in front of the assembly line. This shield is there to put a barrier in between the consumer and the food, which I might add is not covered. A rational person would understand why the shield is in place -- to separate you and others from the food. Now, I give you this as background. The person in front of me in line violated the unwritten rule of staying BEHIND the shield. It's one thing to point over the shield at the ingredients. It's another thing to use one hand as leverage on top of the shield, and then stand on your tip toes so that your entire head is over the food and you are speaking and pointing (with the free hand) down towards the food (and dramatically increases the likelihood of actually spitting on the food). Literally, this jackwad was lunging over the spit shield, speaking and pointing at his preferred inputs. I was STEAMING. MY FOOD was at risk. Let me tell you why this is wrong on so many levels: 1) You are showing reckless disregard for the cleanliness of the food 2) You are disrespecting the employee creating your burrito by assuming that without your lunge/thrust over the shield that the person won't understand you 3) You are disrespecting the people in line behind you by exposing their food to your spit/mucus/bacteria/etc 4) You are incapable of understanding why the shield was put in place to begin with -- to keep a distance between you and the food
chipotle is awesome. their rice is great. freebirds rice and steak both suck. and i did not come to the store to buy a stupid chicken burrito.
All these burrito fast food places suck to me. You shove some meat, rice, and other mass produced product, slap some potato chips and fountain drinks to it and get indigestion later. Nothing to it.
From my experience, freebirds was a bit beany. I mean they just piled it on there. Chipotle has everything I need. No fancy bbq sauces or anything, but it's reliable and tasty. Mission is also better than Freebirds in my opinion. I ate like 2/3 of their biggest one, and felt like that was an accomplishment.
Isn't that your fault for the choice of ingredients? You have complete control over what they put in there. I like the ingredients much better at Freebirds - the steak is hot, fresh and much better quality than any other joint.
