I want to see the Shanghai Shake, the no look passes, and the cool footwork he once possesed. I want to see to see the Yao Ming, not "Yao Van Gundy" or "Yao Ewing". Let him do what's in his instict, not what is being controlled by a remote in his head. So what if he'll make mistakes, he'll learn from it. Don't force him to do certain things because of the fear of making a mistake. Make suggestions to him and let him make his own suggestions. Then see what he does best. Let him be in control of himself. He's responsible enough and will glady consider any suggestion. FREE YAO NOW. The great ones know what to do before doing it. It's all instict. If Yao is destined to be great, then he must have the same freedom the great ones had. FREE YAO NOW! Chant it everyone.
Where were all you when everyone here was demanding and giving the "Bang! Throw elbows! Be a dunker low post threat! And bring it down big man!" plea?
Free Yao. Let him go to another team where he can flourish. Then maybe the Rockets can win and rid this board of YOF.
none of those things work in the NBA, if Yoa thought they would work he would be doing them. I do agree with the free Yao part, free his ass to GS or NY or LA .... Free Yoa now, punk azz!
We could go back to the days when 6'4 Canadian Centers were pushing Yao around. But nobody really wants that. Yao needs to be strong to become great. You dont' work on what you do well. You work on your weakness. And then you put it all together around year 8-10.
I'm sorry... but I don't want Yao shooting those 18 footers... they're not high percentage shots. Even Hakeem was more effective when he had the jump-hook... teams would have rather have him shoot the fadeaway because it was techinically a lower percentage shot (even though Hakeem could shoot it with his eyes closed). But, the fact that he even had the option of shooting the jump hook is what often left him so wide open for those baseline fadeaways. If Yao plays inspired, he'll get his no matter what.... and when he figures out exactly what the refs will let him get away with... it will be TOO Easy for him to score. Think the Matrix... when neo finally figures it out.. Neo - "I'll be able to dodge bullets?" Morpheus - "No... when you're ready, you won't have to."
Sometimes he will, but sometimes he can be aggressive. Being aggressive is one suggestion that he should use. Remember there was this one game when he backed down Big Ben into the paint and turned around with a one hand jam over him? That was when he was skinny in his pajamas. He is capable, even back then he was. He just wasn't used to doing it often. Now, he'll have to think if he should or should not make the move he wants to because JVG and Ewing is looking.
