It's official: we all need to apologize to Mike D'Antoni RIGHT NOW for ever doubting his coaching skills. Give him a superstar point guard, and he'll give you an offense that can drop 140 points without even trying. He'll also turn Montrezl Harrell into an offensive stud, right after doing the same with Clint Capela. I don't want to diss Montrezl, but I didn't really think this many points was ever in the cards for him. Even with James Harden running the show. I underestimated two things: Harden's pick-and-roll passing ability, and Montrezl's tenacity around the rim. I wouldn't want to guard him, that's for sure. Not when he's flying around trying to dunk everything that he can, using his freakish wingspan to bamboozle flatfooted defenders. Marreese Speights is made to look like a little child in this vid, while Montrezl plays the part of the big strong paragon of masculinity. Go back to bed, child. Adults are talking.
He looks like Stoudemire in phoenix. If he continues to score 20 plus and Gordon score 20 plus like curry. Rockets will have big 3
same here, but you know what else I think? I am starting to think Dekker may be better than both of them, just wait until he gets more PT and more experience under the belt, he has just started coming out of his shell. On the other hand i think it's absurd/impossible to compare and measure who is better between any 2 players
It can only be hypothetized /theorized and DMO would also look even more fantastic in this system with his passing(!!) and postup game, as fantastic DMO looked when playing at its best, he would be even better without DWIGHT around (remember when dwight come back dmo suddenly become less involved), with better coach and in this ball sharing system surrounded by shooters. That 'ocassional 3' would be huge(say 2 makes per game and would give us UNIMAGINABLE SPACING)
Monster game last night. He drew a lot of whistles from his attacks to the rim, and made those difficult shots on top of that. And was good at the FT line. And didn't back down to their bigs. Love this dude.
Here's a million dollar question, would he be this good had he been given this chance last year? or the last year suffering on the bench motivated him and produced that determination to practice and become real good?
It's so hard to tell. I am a pretty big believer in Morey's developmental system where D-League assignments are giving to get playing time.
The scouting report on Montrezl before the draft was the that he was very intense that even his own teammates in college were intimidated by him as he played just as hard during practices. His motor was built in way before we got him.
the best play was at 55 seconds :after harrell missed FT dekker fought jumping twice for the rebound and almost got it, only being able to tip it to brewer, then brewer jumped for it tipping it to harrell then as a result of their hustling for off rebound finally harrell got it and bounce assisted brewer for an easy layup!!!
This team is insanely build...3 point shooters are outside and then you have the monster Harrell waiting to slam at your face.
and then you have what 3 - 5 great rebounders regardless of position or great offensive rebounders fighting for it in case of miss
With a good shooting coach, there is no reason to think that he can not develop a decent 3pt shot to his arsenal.
He already has it. He showed it in the D League and in the Summer League. Albeit it may be hovering around 29-30%, its still something hes shown he can do.
I hear ya but I don't think it's to a point that other teams will be scared of him taking those open treys. Driving lane would be much more open if he can pull those C's out to the 3pt line every once in a while.
If opposing teams came out to defend TJones at the 3 point line they'll certainly come out to defend Montrezl to a point where there'd be quite a bit more spacing than with Capela on the floor
Don't win this game without Monster Trez. He just kept getting buckets and making shots through contact. Respect.
