Y'all need to download this. Great find RC. Just a really enjoyable game. I'll finish both parts by next week.
The changeup is way to slow in that game. If you mistake it for a fastball and swing too early, just swing again.
I don't know of anything quite like Cave Story, but that's because I really liked that game. There are a few other non-commercial games that I've enjoyed quite a bit though: The White Chamber This is an adventure point-and-click style game with some excellent art and a decent story. The game is really short though...probably only need a couple of hours to beat if you've played these types of games before. The New Satan Sam Wikipedia Entry on the game Never really got into this one due to time restraints, but the videos of it looked really interesting. Probably the most like Cave Story out of the games I'm listing here. I probably need to give it another try once I find some free time...although that time will probably be going into FFXII pretty soon. Gamebiz 1.0/2 Wikipedia Entry on the game I haven't had a chance to check out Gamebiz 2, but Gamebiz 1.0 was pretty interesting. This is a pretty hardcore strategy/simulation game with a bunch of stats and menus, but it is fun to play around with if you're into the game industry like me. The following games are more like puzzle games which are good time wasters (ala Lumines for example): Every Extend Pretty interesting puzzle/shmup game. This game is undergoing some enhancements and will be released on the PSP by Q Entertainment (same guys who did Lumines, Metoes, and a couple of other similar games). Cloud Wikipedia Entry on the game Haven't played this one in a while, but it is another interesting game to check out. It might take some time to get used to it, but is entertaining and pretty relaxing too IIRC. Flow Wikipedia Entry on the game You can either play this game through the website, or download it to your HDD. Soon, you'll also be able to play an enhanced version on the PS3 (although it won't be free ). I might be able to find some more, but that's some of the more memorable ones I can think of at the moment. Again, I should note that while these games were pretty entertaining (IMO anyway), I think Cave Story was at least a few notches above all of them. Don't expect these games to be as polished or as fun as that game (except for maybe The New Satan Sam, which, as I mentioned, I never got to put much time into). FWIW, there was supposed to be remake of Cave Story for the PSP, although I'm not sure if that's actually going to happen. I recently found out that the publisher for the PSP game has never actually published a game (IIRC), and little has been released about the development since the original announcement. That's not very encouraging.
Cosidering that you've become the self-appointed guru of videa games ( as I am with fast-food), I have a few questions: #1: what has been your most satisfying game? #2: what, in your opinion, has been the best ending? #3: what is your favorite type of game? ie. RPG, Sports, Action/adventure, etc. The most recent game that I enjoyed all levels of was the Shannon Elizabeth Bond recreation for the PS2. I honestly felt like I was downloading a movie when I played it.
#1: I guess Xenogears was the game I enjoyed the most. I liked the deep story it had, as well as the topics and ideas used in the game (heavy philosophical and religious undertones). I liked the battle system too, although I guess some might not have like it. This was the only game I actually wanted to play several times through, partially due to the complex-yet-intriguing story line. #2: This one changes from time to time, mostly just because I forget the exact ending for some games I've beaten. I'd probably say Metal Gear Solid 3 had one of the better endings of the games I've played that I can think of at the moment. Ask me some other time, and I might say Silent Hill 2, Shadow Hearts Covenant (if I'm remembering things right), or some other game. I don't typically think about which game has the best ending, so this one is hard to say for sure. Plus, some games have multiple endings, some of which aren't divided into "good" endings and "bad" endings (just different endings). #3: I used to only play RPGs and sports games, sometimes with a mix of FPS and RTS games (Quake, Warcraft, Age of Empires, etc.). Now, I pretty much enjoy all types of games as long as the developer puts a lot of work into them. I used to never consider a puzzle game as something I'd like to play, but I think I've played more of Lumines in the last few months than any other game. I'm still a little partial to RPGs though, especially those developed in Japan.
