Free game on Steam: Alien Swarm (Diablo 2 meets Aliens)

Have any of you guys tried the little tutorial missions?

I tried one and was doing ok until all hell broke loose and they rushed my team. That was kind of wild. I'm not sure I like the movement controls. I feel like I'm strafing everywhere just to move. The concept of having to weld doors shut to save your backside (?) is kind of neat. It's not my kind of game, but I'll probably try it some more later.

 

This crashes for me everytime the loading bar fills up before the game starts. I can load up the main menu just fine. Damnit.

 

At least you guys have it downloaded already. Mine was downloading, but now the servers are too busy for me to download. I'm sitting at about 25% now.

 

A tip I saw on the Steam boards was to change your download location in the Downloads + Cloud tab. I used Australia - VIC to get around the servers too busy error.

 

Well I was originally downloading from Dallas, but I switched it to somewhere else a few times (including Houston) and it stopped working. I switched it back to Dallas and it's downloading again. About 40 minutes left on the download. Does anyone know if it supports a 360 controller?

 

hmm, not too bad, just an hour and some change.

I guess I can give it a try now.

 

It's better with the wired 360 controller. I still need to map some stuff like switching team members, etc.

Then, hit the ~ button and type in

I found the actual cfg file for editing here (Windows 7):

Just got done playing with some friends on steam. Great stuff.

Played through the first campaign.

 

Haven't gotten the chance to play with my friends, but playing in offline mode, it's pretty fun. It really reminds me of Aliens. How many campaigns are there? I noticed it's built a lot like Left 4 Dead with choices of the campaigns and the maps within the campaigns.
