If any of you find strays in the Heights, I would recommend taking them to Friends For Life. It is a no kill shelter in the area. Good people.
I hope she is cared for and is loved back the way she unconditionally loves peeps. She got to play with my dog and cats, ride in my car, pee and poop in my back yard, (huge turds, too! But I don't mind cleaning that), drink lots of water, and meet my entire family. Here is Sammy. Go and make some family happy, young lady!
Awesome work from Kim, Longhorn Fan and Swoly. This is ClutchFans at its best. I had a similar experience... got my first dog last October, and the Taylor PetSmart and the Shepherd one are basically equidistant to me. Went to both initially, but the vets and trainers at the Shepherd one seemed far better. Would highly recommend that store to anyone.
So, did Sammy find a permanent home? I see Swoly couldn't keep her, Longhorn you have her? But, am I under the impression you are still trying to find a home for her?
SwoLy, thanks again for helping out. LonghornFan, my contact at Red Collar got back to me. They don't have any current space for fostering, but they will assist with training and getting her adopted. So just update here or pm me if Sammy comes back. She seems like a really easy dog to get along with, so I hope whoever took her provides her with a loving permanent home.
mogrod, as soon as Swoly dropped her off there was someone else there who wanted to adopt her. They do have my name and number and if they call my wife will be there in 5-10 minutes as her studio is off of Washington/Studemont. Kim, will do. Once I get back from vacation I could foster it until we find an owner, if that's even needed. I could start crate training her, train to walk on a leash etc. to help the future owner out. Hopefully though the new owner has already fallen in love with her!
Longhorn, cool stuff. I'll keep up with the thread, etc cause I might be interested if all these other options fall through.
Red Collar is awesome! That's where I adopted my dog, Penni. http://www.redcollar.org/ https://www.facebook.com/REDCollarRescue Spoiler <a href="http://s1291.photobucket.com/user/Pavlos_Karnezis/media/2013-06-02230156_zpsaf70bd98.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b557/Pavlos_Karnezis/2013-06-02230156_zpsaf70bd98.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 2013-06-02230156_zpsaf70bd98.jpg"/></a>
When I was looking for her at about 6:30, there was a family of three (father, mother, son), and the father mentioned that they wanted a dog, but she looked bigger then their son. I gave him my card and asked him to call me as soon as he could TODAY, to check to see how Sammy was doing at my home, or if it hadn't worked out with us. I'm expecting his call, but I doubt he calls. He noticed Sammy was jumping on people too much. I think the mother was wondering if that could hurt their kid. He said his name was Juan. The girl at the PetSMart said that she would give one free OBEDIENCE class for beginners to anyone who kept her, and the groomers were going to donate one whole huge bag of food. All that and I couldn't keep her. Our hallways were crowded enough with us, and we noticed she bumped into furniture a couple times while playing with Max, our beagle mix.
