I did the same. And then someone forwarded this offer to me today. I wish there were a way to apply the 50 gb, I should have procrastinated.
BTW, you can also try the "." trick if you are using gmail to get 50GB one even if you signed up for 25 GB. I just did this and it works. So lets say your email is "abcdefg@gmail.com" You can sign up by using that email but putting a period anywhere in there. So "abc.defg@gmail.com" or "a.bcdefg@gmail.com" etc. would work. You will get a link to your email "abcdefg@gmail" since google does not care about the "period" however Box.com and other sites read it as a separate email. The only catch is that when signing in to your box account, you will have to remember where you put the period and sign in that way. My email already has a period, so I just removed the period from my email when creating a new 50GB one. I got the link to open the account in my original email. Here is the link again for the 50Gb signup... https://www.box.com/signup/o/dell_50gb_give_get NOTE: You can use some random phone number. Its required for signup but it doesnt have to be a real one.
If you have already signed up for the 25Gb, you can do this to get the 50GB, without using the gmail trick above. 1) Sign in to your 25GB account, and go to my profile. 2) Cancel, deactivate your account. 3) Now try logging in to your account again. 4) It will say your account is deactivated bla bla..... Click on the link to contact customer support. I then uses the subject "Deactivated Account" and I explained to them that I have already deactivated my account and I want to sign up again using the Dell 50GB offer. They responded back to me within 30 minutes saying they have purged my email from their system. 5) Once you get that email, click on the link below to sign up for a 50GB account!! This works because i just did this a few minutes ago! I would hurry up before they start to refuse....
I just sent them an email asking if they can upgrade it to 50GB since I just signed up for 25GB the other day. No hassle they will just update your account.
I think I have like 5Gb limit on my free account that I have had for a couple of years or so... can I just ask them to upgrade it to 50?
well, I hesitate to cancel my account as I use it regularly and have things the way I want them, and I didn't see a place to submit a screen capture, but i did send the form and ask if I was eligible, so we shall see. thanks for the headsup.
Good news and bad I guess... I was told it's for new users only (and though they knew I wasn't, they gave me a link to sign up) , and for people who sign up for a Dell MyAdvantage account... and people (new box users) they invite. I was then told in a FAQ... Not that they didn't give room for circumvention, but I really wanted the upgrade for my existing account. They did however upgrade me to 25gb on my current account "as a courtesy" so I am grateful for that. Thanks Zboy.
