Les doesn't care about winning championships. All he care about is selling tickets and making that money.
Morey had the ability and the opportunity to upgrade the PG position several times. He chose not to. Can you guess the reason why?
We aren't using cap room, and the MLE is either going to Llull and our 2nd round pick, or Gentile, KJ, and our 2nd round pick. The only "free agents" that should be discussed are minimum type players. Here are my favorites: Luis Scola Aaron Brooks Mike Dunleavy Jason Smith
jones, kostas, 18th, filler for a starting pg. or resign bev and bring llull, and trade for a all star pf.
A very very good take. I would doubt Scola unless the current power forwards are shaken up just because Morey does not have free roster spots, but it certainly could go either way.
"as good" isn't enough... Rockets is much more talented than the depleted Cavs. Getting more out of your players is a head coach duty.
Yeah trading for Barkley was how many years ago?? Les wanted to win early on as a new owner but currently he is not doing much. In this time and age you have to go all out.
being just "as good" isn't good enough because other teams will be improving and/or won't be injured like the OKC Thunder. Rockets need to aim to be the best team in the West. Being "as good" won't guarantee a championship.
Not fair to Les at all. We were on the verge of signing Bosh to a big 4 year contract and then maxing out Parsons. Things didn't go our way, but that's certainly not on Les. If an "all in" type opportunity presents itself, we will be at the front of the line.
The rockets lucked out with Josh Smith and Jason Terry panning out. No way the team would have advanced as far as they did without those two additions making major contributions. Can we expect that to happen again?
Luck is just preparation meets opportunity. Being "flexible" is being prepared. All we need is opportunity, and we will "luck out" again.
Being "as good as any team in the NBA" is all that is achievable, especially with GS sitting there with the same roster as last season. Of course that is discounting any possibility of an event of someone like LeBron deciding to take a serious pay cut and join the Rockets next season. And there is a serious argument to be made for letting the roster just mature. GS, SAS, OKC, LAC etc. have had the main pieces of their roster in place for several seasons. Teams do get better just by having the players become more familiar with the systems in place and the other players. However, you may very well be right and Morey will pull off some incredible trade that improves the team. He is the GM for a reason. If he can I am all for it. But short of Harden, Howard, D-Mo and Ariza, Morey does not have a lot of valuable chips to work with.
GS killed us with a small ball lineup bcuz our bigs couldn't abuse them in the post and neither could they shoot free throws to be in the game when it counted. The 4th Qtr last 5 minutes. Draymond Green was giving D12 fits and Smith/Tjones, gave us absolutely nothing in the post. I only look at GS because they have perfected small ball O and D.
Well if Josh Smith didn't pan out, the team would have had 0 depth behind Terrence Jones after DMo got injured. It didn't work so well when they traded Aaron Brooks for Jordan Hamilton. Jason Terry could regress to his Celtic days and Josh Smith could be the player the Pistons didn't want on their team.
