Maybe 2-3 seasons ago when teams were overpaying for role players. With the new CBA, they're getting smaller deals.
The Kings actually had the 4th rated offense for a while after the All Star break. Would have to think Tyreke played a part in that https://twitter.com/YahooBDL/statuses/318410266440265729 Evans is a better overall player than Mayo. Which means he can be a serviceable starter. Also Evans is a tad injury prone. He's played more than 61 games just once in 4 years. Nothing career hobbling like Brandon Roy but would like more durability than that. Kevin Martin is getting $12 mil this season, Eric Gordon gets around $14 mil a season. I can see him getting $9 mil a year in the right circumstance. I'm wanting to think the Hedo Turkoglu type contract days are about done if the "new CBA" is to be believed.
That's disappointing to hear. I kind of enjoyed seeing bloated contracts and penalties for lacking foresight/poor management.
No the Mavericks do not have the 66 million in free cap space needed in order to sign CP3, Howard, and Josh Smith this Summer. Nor does any team. The salary will be between 58 and 60 million next season.
I think your going to see a huge shift in players with question marks like Tyreke, and OJ Mayo getting large one or two year deals as opposed to 4 or 5 year deals like they would have gotten in the past. You look at the Mavs last year with signing a player like Chris Kaman after they missed out on Deron Williams, and potentially the Rockets this next year if they miss out on a true max free agent as an example. Years ago, Chris Kaman would have got a pretty nice long term deal even with some question marks. Nowadays, if there is even a hint of scepticism about a player whether it be a young player with talent that has issues between the ears, or a really good older player with health/production decline questions, thats when your going to see large one or two year deals come into play.
Tyreke and Mayo the starting backcourt for the Mavs? Maybe Cuban is seeing some advance stats that is too advance for even Morey.
I know on atleast two occasions Morey has indirectly taken shots at Evans, so it ain't happening. Further someone will over pay for him.
Tyreke Evan actually improved this year, despite his numbers going down. He's going to help somebody next year. At the right price, he's a good get. But he's really only a combo guard, and not a great shooter. Not a good fit for the Rockets. I think he may get a 3 year deal with a 3rd year team option, at say ~$8M/yr. Basically what Lin got, except one less year. If the contract is longer, the per year value goes down.
If the Rockets don't have Lin, I could see picking him up if CP3/Howard aren't coming. But in terms of potential, I see similarities between him and Lin. And Lin is further along in his development both individually and in a team setting.
Tyreke has played 4 years of NBA ball already. If he is being out-developed by an undrafted guy who has just played his first full season, then I am not very optimistic about his further development.
i think Tyreke is going to the Clippers in a sign and trade for Eric Bledsoe and Caron Butler's expiring contract. Eric Bledsoe and Demarcus Cousins are very close childhood friends and they would welcome the opportunity to play together. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nQ7AAP-fxs If the Clippers resign CP3, Bledsoe is not going to want to be backup PG anymore. The Clippers also need another ballhandler/playmaker come playoffs, as teams have shown that they are going to take the ball out of CP3hands. The Clippers thought they had that type of player in Billups, but he is too old and unproductive now. The Kings would do the trade in order to help keep Cousins happy. I think that the Kings are going to surrond Cousins with friends and advocates ala Patrick Patterson in order to help keep him pacified.
I can see Tyreke going to Utah. I'm sure he would actually help since all their pgs are stand and shoot players (Williams, Foye). Cut weight of probably both Jefferson and Millsap, send in the rebuilding bigs of Favors and Kanter, have Hayward and Foye stay at their spots, move out Williams, place Reke. Scary potential. FUCCCK UTAH though
