Of course, there is a conflicting story in that the reason the 4-team deal didn't happen is due to a better offer for Laettner from Dallas, http://www.foxsports.com/wires/pages/39/spt193339.sml : But the New York Post also reported that the Pistons might have held up the deal because they are mulling a separate offer for Laettner from Dallas. ------------------ Bad spellers of the world: UNTIE!
A few points: 1) We do NOT need Brad Miller. Not at the current cost. Sure, he would be a good fit on this team, but that was when he could be had for the minimum or maybe $1M. At $4-5M per, he is destined to be a noose around the Rockets' cap room flexibility. Besides, I'd rather have Feick, who is a better rebounder, on the team. And we already have a 7-0 banger off the bench who has more offensive game than Miller. His name is Jason Collier. 2) Of course, we could use Jerome Williams. This is a guy that would be a PERFECT fit for Houston. His intensity and rebounding prowess would work well with the outside shooting and slashing styles of Francis, Mobley, and Anderson. I wanted the Rockets to get him last year, but Detroit wouldn't let him go for anything. Now, the Pistons have Ben Wallace as their future at PF, so Williams is expendable. Detroit also happens to need a SF to replace Hill's scoring. Perhaps Walt Williams for Jerome Williams (throw-ins on either side to make it work). Jerome would replace Mario Elie as the team's JYD, a scrappy guy with a never-say-die attitude. We should definitely pursue him. 3) Hottoddie--I actually spent some time traveling with a CBA team (the Fort Wayne Fury) last season. There are definitely some good players in the CBA who could contribute on NBA teams. A couple of PFs on Fort Wayne that could help are Etdrick Bohannon or Lari Ketner. Bohannon finished the season with the Clippers. He's 6-9, athletic, and a good rebounder (11 rpg - 2nd in the CBA). Ketner started last year with the Bulls and finished it with the Cavs. He's 6-11, plays PF/C, and he has the bulk and size to bang inside. Not that they're any better than KT or Carlos, but they are a definite option if the Rockets somehow made a trade that left them needing to fill up the roster. ------------------
To hell with Brad Miller. Im like ROXTXIA lets unload and go get Fizer man. Im tired of settling for 2nd and 3rd level free agents.
I was hoping this Fizer thing would go away. Especially after KT got the better of him in the RMR. ------------------ GATER

I'd still like to have Fizer in a Rockets uni. Unfortunately reality sets in when you realize he is a good, rookie player with a low salary. Chicago would be stupid to trade him, as would Orlando to trade Miller. ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
BobFinn*, 100% agree. That is why I have refused to post in any Mo threads until he signs somewhere. I would not mortgage the ranch for Fizer as I feel he is very untested. If the Bulls pull off the Glen Rice deal, he's gonna be further untested b/c of no playing time. If we really wanted Fizer (and I hope we don't), and the Bulls get Rice, the best time for this deal will be after the season starts. Right now the price will be too high as the Bulls have to save face for a dismall FA off-season. ------------------ GATER
True GATER, plus I think we could land someone in next years draft. If KT or Los disappoint this season. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
