Actually I think what the Rox really need most is another Guard who can give Cat and SF some rest from that 40 mins a game they putting up. The lack of depth at the G spot really stands out anytime Cat or SF has to take a breather. If we dont get any of these starter FAs like Brent and Okhur, we should at least pick up a couple of warm bodies.

You guys are deluded to want to pick up steph jackson. You think our team has a low B-ball IQ now? You think we have a problem with guys knowing their roles? You think we have a problem with turnovers? Ill-advised shots? This guy is as bad as anyone in the league in those departments. There's a reason why the Spurs let him go for nothing.

    S&T Francis For Wallace.
    Get Payton with our MLE.
Trade Mo and Kelvin for Ray Allen and a backup center.

That is not the reason. He turned down San Antonio's offer in hopes that another team would give him a better contract (i.e. more money). When no teams offered him a larger contract, he had to sign with Atlanta as a last resort.

JEZZUZ... bejezuz !?!?! Do you actaully follow any teams besides the Rockets..?!?!?

first off, why would Detriot want Francis - they have Billips, Hamilton, and now Mike James off the bench - and they can't move Hamilton to the 3 - because they have Tayshaun Prince there. They wnat to solidfy their front line

second, Payton is old and discontent - and why would he leave a cahmopionship contender for a 7th seed ?

and as for number three... you are crazy. Berry will be gone this year and Ray Allen is the best backcourt player they will have left (much better than Flip Murrary) - why would they want Mo and Cato's bloated contracts

does anyone on this board actaully follow any other teams besdies the Rockets ?!?!?

    Thank you Haven,

StePHen Jackson is a poor man's Cuttino Mobley. I have no doubt that Cat on an Atlanta team would be putting up MONSTER numbers as well. They are both just scorers and I would rate Cat a better defender and PASSER.

I remember Pop getting furious with Jackson when he would blow 2 and 3 on 1 fast breaks because of his horrendous passing skills and lack of too much grey matter. This guy makes Steve look smart.

I think our main problem is that Steve and Cuttino are too much alike, don't move well without the ball and are not good passers or catch and shoot players that would thrive in a Yao Ming centered offense. Their slashing and cutting ability should be a positive with Ming's passing ability.

I think the key if we cannot swap Steve for a Ray Allen, is to sign Barry to the MCE and have cuttino come off the bench.

Barry would compliment Steve and would spread the floor like Piatkowski does but with better passing and better defense (which is what keeps Pike off the floor)

    A team composed of:

    Yao
    Taylor
    Jackson
    Barry
    Steve

with Mobley/Cato/Weatherspoon/Pike/Boki coming off the bench is a team with great ball moving potential.

I think having Jackson AND Barry will make up for Steve's limited ability to create, and will allow for even more spacing. Just look at how much better Seattle is playing with Brent there. I just hope he isn't scooped up by the Lakers or the Spurs who could really use him. Of course SA needs to resign Ginobili and LA is capped out and Buss is a tightwad.

Best case scenario we trade Steve for Ray Allen and then sign Barry.

Barry and Allen would be the PERFECT backcourt combo for a Yao Ming team. Both adept passers, and dead on shooters. I would LOVE to see a team zone around Yao with those two and Jackson and Taylor. Zone teams would Pay. Though we would still be weak defensively from the forward position, I think we could manage.

The '95 Rockets won with Chucky Brown and the Lakers won with old-ass horace grant, a tweener in Robert Horry, Madsen and Slava Medvedenko!!

I think Taylor is better than any of those guys and we also have Cato and Weatherspoon.

We can get Bobby Jackson as the shoot guard and move stephen Jackson to the 3 and Jim Jackson to the 4, sign Marc Jackson as the center, and hire Action Jackson as the Coach. All Jackson team. Oh, ask Jenny and Michael Jackson to sign the National Athem.

Stephen Jackson would be great as our Small Forward. I would move JJ to Shooting Guard and I wouldn't resign Mark Jackson, his first few games were great but his abilities are limited. JJ and Pike are realy big Shooting Guards not Small Forwards.

I'd be surprised if the Rockets don't at least make a run at Camby or Spree.

Brent Barry. He's a great fit. That's all there is to it.

    *SIGH*

remind me again HOW the rockets are suppose to get Hinrich out of Chicago ? They are getting rid of Crawford next year, and KH will be the main PG...

    same question for Ray Allen

...let me guess Mobley and/or Francis

from that one game, pietrus looked good. but he's averaging 2 ppg.

stephen jackson doesn't bring the toughness JJ brings to the three. not a good rebounder. gets the occassional steal, but also turns it over a bunch. i actually don't really like him that much as a player.

I didn't even bother to reply to that silliness - signing a guy based on one good game got us seven years of Cato at $7 million per

    S&T Francis?

I hope you did not mean "sign & Trade" because Francis is already [sic] "signed"......thank you.

Personally, I would love to have Brent on this team. Also Mehmet or Stromile will not be bad at all. Oh well I trust that JVG and CD will make a healthy decision with the healthy crop of Free agents available + the draft. IMO need is priority - and I think we need a different starting PG next season who is cerebrally adequate and a good shooter (sp)? Now remember that I did not advocate for the severance of any player just a change in a specific department.

I would love to get Wallace, or Kenyon Martin. I prefer the Latter, but neither will happen.

Ginobili or Turkoglu would be awesome. And I think I could live with with Okur.

I really like our team this year, I know a ton of you guys dont like this team but Iam the exception to the rule I suppose.
