not too shocked, i always believe it'll be 3 years contract. 2yr is good for the Rockets, but ppl has to put yourself in others position, FVV will be 32 at the end of this contract that puts himself in a great position for another big contract 32-36yr.

 

33y.o. at the end of year 3, he'll be 30 mid season this season.

I shudder at the idea of paying Fred vanvleet 30m AAV to keep him next year.

Rockets should look into trading Fred VanVleet if the Rockets record is around .500.

 

I'm starting to think he holds this team back, slows the pace down, too often puts up bad shots.

I'd rather go with Reed, Amen, Holiday because at least they'd know their roles.

People keep saying the team doesn't know their roles well yeah, because we have a vet PG acting like he's the franchise player.

 

Fred has regressed big time, can’t shoot, slow on defense and doesn’t facilitate the offense like last year. Teams seam to go on runs against us when he’s on the floor, but who starts over him?

He would be my choice as well but spacing would suffer, the Warriors were giving him 10ft to shoot and he drove into a crown instead.

 

I'm optimistic that his shot will return but the pace is a HUGE problem. We're going up against set defenses way too often. A quick pace would help Jalen get downhill and get us some easy cross-matches for Alpy to feast on. Fred has definitely lost a step, too. He's a small guard that can't get into the paint to collapse defenses so without his shot he is a big liability.
