This will probably be posted on nbatalk tomorrow. I saw the early edition of the Sunday New York Times. Apparently there is a good chance that the signing period will begin July 15 rather than August 1. I didn't memorize the article but the reasoning is that the league can give itself some extra vacation as well as curtail a lot of the backdoor wheeling-and-dealing and BS between owners, agents, and players (most players know where they want to go, anyway; just get it done). This would be nice. We wouldn't have to wait around forever for the signing of free agents. And those pre-season publications might actually be semi-accurate for a change. ------------------
