Keon Clark ticketed for mar1juana possession July 30, 2002 DANVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- Free-agent center Keon Clark was cited for mar1juana possession and must appear in court next month. Clark, 27, was ticketed at 10:50 p.m. on Sunday for having about a gram of mar1juana in his car, city attorney David Wesner said. Clark, formerly of the Toronto Raptors, was not arrested. He will appear in Danville Municipal Court on Aug. 22, and if found guilty, Clark could be fined between $250 and $1,500. Wesner said Clark was cited about two years ago for a similar offense. The citations will not appear on criminal records because they are dealt with in local courts, Wesner said. Clark played for the Raptors for two seasons, and he became a free agent July 22 after the team rescinded an offer to extend his contract. He averaged 11.3 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks last year. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news/ap/20020730/ap-clark-mar1juana.html
Keon is SO ending up with the Raptors. This just compounds his problem. No team was offering him **** before and now they'll be lucky to offer him frozen turds.
The NBA is full of them. Your supposed to get your contract FIRST, Keon. (maybe we can get him really cheap, now... )
How do pro athletes always end up getting busted with pot while nobody in my own universe of potsmoking acquaintances ever gets caught?
Well, that effectively ends any chance of Keon Clark signing with the Magic. His past dealings in pot are what led to them dealing him in the first place; now that he's been caught with it again, it's unlikely they go after him.
He's only a stupid athlete for getting caught. 1 gram of pot is aprox 1 joint. Getting ticketed for having 1 joint isn't really getting BUSTED. Ever had a couple beers? It's the same thing only the government decided prohibition was an impossible law to enforce. Unfortunately the government hasn't realized the same is true about the war on drugs.
If Kandi doesn't re-up with the clippers, they can sign clark. He already has something in common with Odom.
I'm kind of curious as to the circumstances behind this story. All we hear is that they found a gram of pot in his car. Now I'm sure he didn't have it sitting on the dash, and he probably didn't run into the Chris Rock problem: An angry b*tch will say anything: "HE GOT WEED! HE GOT WEED!" I guess one possibility is that he is just unlucky. After all, I could have been driving around with a gram of weed in my car for the last five years without getting caught. Ok, maybe he's just really unlucky? To swing to the other side of the pendulum, I turn to Conspiracy Brother: Man, the po-leece see a brother in a nice car, they are always gonna be pulling that brother over. Then if they see he's big, so he must be in the NBA - well, everybody knows that 90% of the NBA tokes up, so they search his car and find his stash. I just hope the truth is somewhere in the middle: the police had a legitimate reason to pull him over, then they smelled pot on his clothes, so they searched the car. Why am I afraid that Conspiracy Brother is closer to the truth? By the way, Conspiracy Brother says "You gotta see Undercover Brother if you got soul, or even if you don't! It's da bomb! All the bad reviews were written by THE MAN. Don't believe them!"
I guess you all have NO idea of how many NBA players smoke weed. There a fair amount of NFL & MLB players too...
