Chaser you are right about Mike Miller. Additionally he can also play the role of a point forward at times.

I'm with you DD, Boozer is a stud. He is the exact type of player the Rockets could use, a strong rebounder that can score too. I hope the Rockets really pursue him this offseason, but I'm sure Cleveland will put a huge fight for him.

the problem with drooling over "studs" is that if they are so good....why would their current team allow them to leave or get rid of them?

there isnt any team in the league that is going to help us out by giving away a player that means so much to them.

Just how much are you willing to give up to get that "stud"?

    Quentin Richardsen

Saw him play up here in Dallas when he went off on the Mavs. He was semi-featured that night as a 2 / 3 and was fun to watch... of course due in part to the over defense of Cory Maggette (Brand did not play).

I imagine he'd be a low cost contract to sign. Not sure though, but I suspect the "nucleus" of our red wearing ballers to broken up after a slim entry and fast exit in the playoffs. Mobes and Francis may be gone.:(

We'll need youth that complement the Dynasty after the Franchise is shipped.

Trust me. Either JVG or Francis is gone... and Les is a NY kiss-butt.

I've always liked Quentin Richardson but doubt he'll come to H-town. You mentioned Crawford is going to be a free agent, and if it's Jamal Crawford of the Bulls, then that's the guy we need to go after. He's the perfect backcourt complement to Francis cuz he can run the point and Francis can guard the point. The thing the Rockets need more than anything IMO is a PG that is 6'4 or taller.

IMO i think the only one's to try to sing is at a decent price of corse and no multi year (5 + yrs) only (4 -)

Fizer / Crawford / Camby / Okur / Van Excel
    Madvedenko / Mike Miller / Hudsen /
Kenyon Martin / Maglorire / McDyess / Kurt Thomas
    Gricek / Gugliotta / Rasheed Wallance / Divac /
Ginobili / Ostertag / Keon Clark

i will put more interest in fill the power foward position first

There is no "Team option" for a 2nd round draft choice.

The teams are limited to offering Early Bird only or a starting salary of the mid level exception etc.

Boozer is going to get a contract in the MoT or Cato range, and Clevland can NOT match it.

DD, not according to ESPN's Chad Ford. He mentions they do have a TEAM option.

A team CAN offer a team option for 2nd round players but normally do not as most 2nd rounders dont pan out the way Boozer will. From all indications they will exercise that option. This was mentioend again last night on ESPN's game telecast. The Cavs will keep Boozer. Count on it!

As an aside....Boozer is playing amazing. He is looking an awful lot like Elton Brand, another fellow Duke alum.

Damn, that sucks!!!! I was also hoping we would have a shot at him...

His stats recently are amazing...they are Duncan-like...without the blocks.

Well atleast there wont be a luxury tax for teams to worry about after this season........so technically, Les might still need to have his checkbook handy.

    NOTEBOOK
Luxury tax could be gone after 2004-05
    By JONATHAN FEIGEN
    Copyright 2003 Houston Chronicle

The NBA extended its collective bargaining agreement with the Players Association as a matter of course. This was assumed since the day the deal was done in January 1999. No one noticed.

The league and union leaders even said they were encouraged to be talking about the next contract long before they will need it. Whatever.

The real victory came when union chief Billy Hunter tried to complain.

"I'm still not a fan of the luxury tax," he said, as if he could not think of anything else. And nothing could have been a greater sign that there might be labor peace leading into the next deal.

The NBA has quietly let teams know there probably will not be a luxury tax after the 2004-05 season, the last season of the deal. The tax is triggered by a formula that considers basketball-related income and players' salaries. Income is expected to reach the point that there will be no tax.

Union leaders love a good fight, or they would not be good union leaders. But Hunter will have a hard time rallying the troops to fight a tax that does not exist. Next summer, teams are expected to be willing to spend without the fear of a tax hit after the following season. A few big contracts and the usual amount of player movement, and Hunter will have a hard time convincing players to start over. Calls to the Players Association were not returned.........

    I'm saying this:

Sign and trade for Steve Nash. Period. We do that, and immediately we are about 10 times better than we are now. If you have to ask why, then you simply don't understand basketball.

If QRich could consistently shoot like he did last night (8/11 3's  ) I'd be all for him. However, I think his funky shooting nights would make us beg for Cat.

We have NO chance to get Boozer... :(

The Cavaliers hold a contract option (worth $695,000) on Boozer for 2004-05, which the club is expected to exercise this summer. If the Cavaliers pick up the option, Boozer would become a restricted free agent after next season.

At that time, it's likely that some of the same teams who let him slip by in the draft would want to sign him to a multiyear, multimillion dollar deal.

Boozer, though, seems content where he's at.

``We've been here almost two years and we're very comfortable,'' he said. ``We've talked about a long-term deal. It's something I want and the Cavs have given me every indication that's what they want, too.''

Negotiations won't begin for some time, but James has already put some pressure on the Cavs to keep Boozer around.

``All I know,'' James said, ``is that I want him as my power forward until I retire.''

I prefer Mike Miller, a decent playmaker and generalist we in dire need. I'm afraid it's slim chance of getting him.
