Every fa is paid off of past performance and expected future performance. Tell me why he failed his physical and if he's healthy now. I will tell you if I would bring him home .
Thank you @J.R. !! You really should consider adding "The Bot" to your username!! Go Texans!!! ....... ....... .......
Another hybrid DT/DE. I suspect Demeco is working on an improvement to the SF Defense He's certainly have to pass a thorough physical in order to expect production in 2024.
Cap update: Texans apparently did NOT ultimately do the restructure of Shaq Mason's deal to free up that space. This jives with the reporting that the Texans believed they had a deal for Keenan Allen and that's why they were doing the Mason restructure. With that not happening, they appear to have hit pause on a restructure.
I'm pretty sure they're going to sign him as soon as his foot in 100%, but I'd lke to see him in better shape if he's here, he was starting to put on a little potbelly before he got hurt and that ain't good for a db
I hope they don't. He's not only had physical issues but he only had 2 INT the last 2 years. He's a downgrade from Nelson.
According to a few people, he's been used primarily as a press corner his entire career, and thrived in that type of system. They moved to softer coverage the last 2 seasons, and his stats really dipped with that shift. The hope would be that he would return to form in a more aggressive system, assuming his health checks out.
I'm guessing the spot blurbs about Xavien Howard joining the Texans is speculation since I can find no confirmation and I really don't think they can afford another contract without shifting salary into the future.
They absolutely can afford more contracts if they want to. Even without shifting money. Whether they want to use all the cap space now is another question.
Texans have around $15million in functional cap space before any restructure of Shaq Mason (or anyone else)
